The most important day in our history.

I'll never forget that game, even though I was only 10 years old. Even by that age I knew how vital it was for us to get back in the league, and how much it meant after what came before.

What a day, emotionally draining, but brilliant, can't believe where the time has gone, even pre Copps, part timer.

Brilliant day. The start of a golden era.

Let’s be honest, we had been crap for ages and the Richardson debacle was just the final dollop of shit dropped on Belle Vue.

I like to think of the Endsleigh Trophy win under Snodin in 1999 as the real turning point. It’s relative but given where we came from, before that trophy we had only known failure, while after we have only known success.

The change to promoting two back into the league was very significant. I'm sure I wasn't alone in wondering how the hell we were going to get out of the Conference with only one place up for grabs .

The introduction of the play offs were our ticket out as well as the Golden Goal.

It was also the last game that Andre Mariner Refereed before he joined the EFL ranks along with us.
He's now regarded as on of the best referees in the Premier League, a pity we couldn't quite match reach the same height's as him.

The start of our golden era, the turning point for me was Tris Whitman's 90th minute equaliser in the semi 1st leg - I'd never seen BV erupt like that before!
