Peter Ridsdale

The EFL have announced that Peter Ridsdale has been elected onto the board as he is seen by Rick Parry as an advocate of spending limits & changing football’s financial distribution model.  :suicide:

If the EFL is the clubs then you would think that they would know about his past.

Sounds about right. The EFL haven't got a good track record when it comes to making the right decision.

The fella did great work at Bellend Road, bringing the white shyte to their knees.

What could possibly go wrong, with a solid citizen like him at the wheel?

When he was at Barnsley I remember being a guest of a customer.
We were having a meal pre match when Ridsdale came into the room.
My host asked us not to make eye contact as he didn’t want him coming over to the table.
Apparently Ridsdale was  very unpopular there.

Now that the ban he got after his time at Cardiff has expired, he is free to weave his magic once again;

Taking the piss or what!
It would be like making Boris Johnson Prime Minister or summat....who would believe it!

Its about the politics of football, Hound.

What makes Ridsdale a suitable person for this role, despite his track record in the football industry?
Nothing that I can see, but I don't know what I don't know.

If anybody wants to make a case for Ridsdale, they are free to do so...I,m sure we all want to hear it!

Yes, it is about football albie.
You might have noticed that I added to the conversation about Ridsdale earlier in the threa£.
You chose to bring the government into the conversation.

But the government is in the conversation, Hound.

Only Johnson can intervene by setting up an independent regulator for the football industry.
If you leave it to the football authorities, they will just appoint one of their own, then continue as before.
Same old same old!

The point is to prevent the recycling of the likes of Ridsdale by the people who do not want the system disturbed.
Until the government step up to the plate, more avoidable fiascos will continue to happen.

No good pretending that there is no politics in this..there is!

He was also part of the panel that appointed Sven to the England job back in 2000. He’s a very well connected man

It's not off topic Hound. It's about a football personality and the danger he represents. Quite clearly politics is all over the topic - as Albie points out very ably.

Best wishes

It's like appointing Roy Keane as head of the football disciplinary committee!

From a fans perspective  who are looking for real change, seems like another jobs for the boys appointment.

And for a jobs for the boys quango what better people to be in the position to appoint, not.

Whilst the current setup is in place the EFL will never be anything but an organisation dripping in cronyism and back scratching appointments, its a toss up between then and the FA for the most inappropriate governing body.
