Brief.

Rowe gets caught playing them onside first half and also for their first goal (although it was comedic defending)

Good run from Close? And finish from Seaman for our goal.

Keeper looks to have the free kick covered but I think he gets done by power.

Hard to be sure but looks like handball for our penalty shout.

Tom looked a bit weak in the challenge for there first…..maybe his heart isn’t in it, have to keep an eye on him methinks…..maybe still shaking off the horror show that was last year…

My initial thoughts from the East Stand and near the play ,was that it was off side.
Now having seen it , though marginal i still think it's off side but wouldn't blame the Linesman as it's to tight to call.

In both cases there was a big gap to aim at the same corner

Have the rules not been changed to give marginal calls in favour of the attackers? I think I read somewhere that’s the case either VAR (thicker lines being drawn or some guff like that) so maybe that’s also filtering down to the lower leagues.

Agreed on the free kick wolfie.
I said to my mates at the time that the defensive wall seemed to be too far to one side.
The free kick was always going to go to the keepers left side.

Shouldn't be going through his legs . If it goes in the gap between Rowe and the wall the keeper probably saves it.

The first was offside, my seat is on the top row in the West directly in line with where their striker is and as the ball was played the striker was a good  1/2 yard off.

This is my big fear. Our defence was atrocious for the last 15-20 games last season. Which was around the time Tom made his return. It’s not his fault but we have built the defence around him and conceding two goals at home against hardly the most talented attacking side is again a concern. The entire rest of the defence has changed aside from Tom but they were weak goals to concede, especially as we were so poor up front ourselves and were never going to come back.

I think we share that concern although it will help having a good keeper behind them.

Tom possibly has had a hit of confidence hanging over from last year plus losing his regular partners. We hope he can overcome that as we desperately need the dominant Tom we know he can be.

We also lost the ball too cheaply in midfield which exposed the defence too often so hopefully that can be improved quickly too.

Anderson has been poor ever since he got the armband. I like him but maybe he’s not captain material? Who knows

can’t see his heart not being in it, made captain last season and RW has praised him all season saying he’s the best defender in the league so would’ve thought he would want to prove him right, I didn’t notice it myself but from what I read on another thread Wellens gave him a bollocking so maybe he wasn’t happy. From listening the podcast with Copps tho even as a player wellens gave bollockings to most of his team mates and it was because he knew they could do better and most of the time the said player improved his performances so hopefully he will speak with big Tom and it will be sound.
