Bostock went off after tweaking his groin too. Got to bring in at least 2 bodies before the weekend. Need a defensive midfielder and Forward.
On the plus side if we get lucky in tomorrow’s draw and draw a big club it will generate more income for an extra signing

Potentially, out of the Sheff Wednesday game are:

AJ Greaves (red carded)
Matt Smith (Covid test today)
Charlie Seaman (close contact with Smith)
John Bostock (groin)
Tommy Rowe (Achilles)

Add to those above our long term 3 of Hiwula, Taylor and Fej

8 players out of an already threadbare squad and we’re on game No.3!
Fingers are crossed for some positives, because it’s getting ridiculous now. I feel for Richie, I really do.

Looks like Ravenhill (Darlington) and Hasani (Matlock) may be heading out also...

How is Hasani going to benefit playing at Matlock. Surely he needs to be playing National League North at least same a Ravenhill.
They are only going to progress by playing against players of a decent standard imo.

I trust RW knows what he is doing as he knows more than me about the players but it does seem odd that young players go a long way down the pyramid when they go on loan.
These lads are 19 years old so not babies now.

Just checked Liam Ravenhill is only 18.

But you need a National league North side to want them. Their league doesn’t start while Saturday. By playing for Matlock lower than what we want he’ll be able to train with us and train with them Thursday which will keep him fit. Richie says in his latest interview he wants a loan player at least in the next two days so he can play with the squad. Because of injuries and Covid we may need six which really doesn’t want but the squad is to small at the moment.

Fair point Steve. Makes sense.

I think AJ may be available as Red cards are competition specific from what RW was saying in his post match interview.

Pointing out the obvious is a bit of a fruitless task don’t ya think?
If the point being made is we have a squad too small to function, then what is the solution?
If the point being made is we are not fit enough to compete without injury, then again what is the solution?
If the point being made is that we haven’t brought in the right players or anywhere near enough the amount we need, what is the solution??

Just throwing out random statements and injury updates is mere rhetoric, because most of us are very aware of what’s happening,

Now the solutions are bound to be finance related, and we the majority already are aware that that tin of coffers is nigh on empty!
So if anyone can come up with a forward plan that doesn’t involve spending money the club doesn’t have, it will be very interesting to know what we could have done differently….

Clear field….here ya go!!

I wrote something similar on another thread but deleted it before posting.

Just listened to RW interview and looks like Hasani will be training with us all week, then Thursday nights with Matlock.

This means he could slot back in if required (due to COVID/injuries) and I'm not he could train with us for a Conference side.

Who are you to dismiss Matlock as not being of a decent standard when I'm guessing you have probably never even seen them play and know nothing about that league? Branden Horton went on loan to a club at the same level but in a different league last season and he learned a lot from it. If Lirak can get regular games in proper football on a saturday afternoon then he is only going to improve and develop and become a better player for it.

It’s all relative. It’s a decent standard compared to Sunday league, but it’s not a decent standard compared to the top end of League 1. Not many players that are playing in the NP at 19 years old go on to play L1 or above.

It's far better than the alternative of sitting around and doing nothing on matchdays as well. All the young lads need to be doing the same as Lirak and getting out and playing if they aren't involved in squads here.

It’s mens football though it’s a step up from youth team football, most of the players at Matlock will have been at professional clubs in the not too distant past, most will be strong and physical, he’ll learn a lot!
