For anybody who went, as I did, found these pics from just before it was demolished. Some great memories, and some not so great. Great pics though

I started DVHS in 1963 before the new part was built. Mr Horncastle was the Head back then, yes as you say some great memories. Some may remember Colin Wedd as a councillor he was my French teacher.
Always looked forward to the 3 weeks summer camp, which usually ended up as my only holiday.

I have a particularly vivid memory of Don Valley.

I played up front against them in a school team match there. Broke through the defence about 40 yards out onto a perfect through ball.

Trouble was, I'd forgot to bring my jock strap. So as I was running into the ball my wedding tackle slipped out the leg of my shorts. I'm trying to run flat out while fumbling to put the errant genitalia back in place and I lost my balance and went arse over tit.

We lost two-nowt.

That used to happen to me regularly, and that was in the days of knee-length shorts, not the little more than speedo's style in your day!

I could have run in little more than a fig leaf and not had such a "dress misfunction"

Inter School Sports used to be entertaining. 6 schools involved I think

DVHS (Donches ?)
Danum GS
Percy Jackson GS
Wath GS ***

Doncaster GS
Memory fails GS

Cant remember the 6th and 5th is a "guess"

At Danum we called one team Donches and have guessed it was Don Valley ?  ****Also , and the reason I wrote this was Waths uniform was a Milk chocolate brown colour trimmed with bright yellow and were known at Danum as "the A**e-lickers"

At St. Peter's we had a football team and a Rugby Union team. It was good in a way because the big fat kids who were crap at football got into the Rugby team!

Played rugby for Don Valley Old Boys, (whilst still at Woodlands Secondary Modern school). Mostly in the 2nds. Left to become a founder member of Adwick-le-Street RUFC.  Great days, happy memories. Club house at DVOB's was The Railway in Bentley.

Yes, played with Paddy, very good player - had a trick or two up his sleve.  Don't remember Pudding though.  Another at the time was Dick Strawbridge.
