Imagine being a senior Tory

Now, Lord knows I have no sympathy for a vacuous non-entity like Raab who rose without trace to the Cabinet.

But just imagine what it must be like. Being wheeled out in front of the media to defend the indefensible time after time after time. Being given a line to repeat like a trained monkey. A line which dissolves the moment it is exposed to the air.

https://mobile.twitter.com/BBCBreakfast/status/1457981360132562949

Raab: "I understand the PM abided by all the protocols on mask wearing."

Interviewer - reads out hospital policy requiring mask wearing from the front door.

Raab: "I understand the PM abided by all the protocols on mask wearing."

Over and over again. Defending the indefensible over Hancock, Paterson, Johnson's flat, Johnson's mistress, Geoffrey Cox, the Russia Report, the NI Protocol.

They regularly sacrifice their credibility and self-worth for him. It must be excruciating.

How long till one of them has a Geoffrey Howe moment and turns round and brings him down?

Oops.

I take your point however, your final paragraph referring to politicians being knifed (albeit in a different context) is a tad ‘clumsy’ given recent events.

Rishi is the invisible man atm, trying to float across the top of all the shit, hoping not to get hit by an inconvenient turd torpedo I guess.

Yes, I absolutely didn't think of that. That was a very stupid choice of words. Changed now.

Boris not wearing a mask in hospital was one of the few things he's got right.

It is called being normal. Makes a change for Boris though.

We didn't wear masks in hospitals with flu and shouldn't now. Get on with it.

which begs the question of course, those not taking precautions to avoid covid, should they be treated on the NHS if they get the virus?

Your probably right there Syd, and neither should people walking into the country to have babies, operations, and treatment without contributing to the system, but then the medical profession look to their oath, that must be different here to every other country and say they must treat them, should the same medical people in the NHS refuse to treat British people  who are not vaccinated but have paid taxes then?

It was tongue in cheek selby, (ask CDH) on your second point the cost has to be balanced against humanitarian needs, you wouldn't want it to be more like the US here surely?

The NHS would never refuse to treat anyone however, we have a government who are now ‘insisting’ that all personnel working in the NHS must be double vaccinated by next April.

If the government can take that line with NHS staff, would it dare take the same stance with a patient who had refused vaccination?

If you see that Raab interview again, look into his eyes as he speaks.
Are those the eyes of a man who believes what he's saying?
