This is all getting a bit worrying isn’t it.
Since the summer transfer f**k up and then position in the league, weve known we needed to act quickly this window.

I really hope it’s all happening behind the scenes but a bit of hope for the supporters wouldn’t go amiss.

Agreed. And ongoing movements mean we run the risk of getting knocked down the food chain for any targets we are supposedly waiting on. Ladapo has handed in a transfer request at Rotherham today. If they sell him then they’ll be in the market for a striker and January showed how easy it was for them to beat us to a target we’d waited all window for.

If we go into the Fleetwood match with the dregs of the team that finished the match at Morecambe then we may as well save the outlay and use it to build a team for next season in the 4th tier.

The coaches will have their hands full trying to motivate the squad, what's needed more than anything is some sort of a boost from a returning player or incoming, anything else will send negative thoughts to what remains available, when really backup players should be busting a gut to be in the coaches mind.

The whole season so far feels like rovers are a fishing trawler, we have gone out to sea, caught nothing , wasted a lot of money on fuel, the engine is playing up big time, still having to pay the crew and are now limping back to harbour, with a net full of holes that we may not get repaired before the next outing. A promise of a new net and perhaps extra crew before next trip,  but no guarantees. We know the engine is likely to still play up. Very despondant.

Having lived in a fishing community and a few trips to sea I can assure that skippers prefer a regular and experienced crew the no hopers get a reputation and have difficulty finding a ship so your dead on with your comparison.

I’d be very surprised if GM would have considered the managers job without some assurances about additions to the squad in this january window.
Would i be surprised if he was made false promises to convince him to accept the job? No, not at all.

Its hard looking at our club at the moment, we seem to be in a transition phase with a few back of house people leaving too, we could just do with a boost.

Portsmouth are struggling for goals but still not picking him. The deal has to be something that both clubs and the player, are happy with. There are other options if we don’t get him. Personally I would be going after Kyle Wootton from Notts county. Contract runs out in the summer so there would be a fee involved. Maybe they fancy a few of our players in a swap deal?

I was amazed County beat turbo charged Wrexham 3-1 the other day at home  (Stockport are also turbo charged for the rest of the season)  meaning it's going to be exceptionally hard to get out of that league - it being so flushed with cash.

So they need to strengthen up the squad - Bogle looks a natural for them - (and they have the same strip as Grimsby  :headbang:)
didn't someone say they wer eafter Bogle earlier this season

so a job lot exodus would make sense ???

I still think of that job lot   "swop" ....  instant defence "transplant" Tommy Docherty  did with us

Mentioning Stockport reminds me that Paddy Madden is there, saw him & McSheffrey out around town when they were both at Scunny, just a thought. Just seen he's on a 3 year contract there, could have done a job for us.

There's currently better than Marquis out there for less.
Name them.

It depends on what McSheffrey is wanting from a striker but a very general name would be Dominic Telford. Out of contract at the end of the season so wouldn't be a crazy fee and wages would be significantly less than Marquis'. A decent loan target would be Charlie McNeil from Man Utd or Ellis Simms from Everton, who had a decent record at Blackpool last season, but they may be looking to send him to a Championship club. Tahvon Campbell from Woking might be worth a go too, potentially has less suitors than Wootton and arguably better than him.

This one's a winger not a striker, Scott Tiffoney from Partick Thistle. A very good direct player who creates chances, which we would desperately need even if we brought in Lewandowski. His team mate Rudden has been very good up front this season too.

There's plenty of other names I'd take over Marquis but I'm not listing them all! We all know Marquis misses a fair amount of chances, luckily 3-4 seasons ago we created that many chances he was able to miss some of them. Nowadays we create near enough half as many chances, so I seriously doubt him coming here would go well and both our fans and him will soon be throwing their toys out their prams. When you consider how much he'll be on, theres definitely alternative players out there.

Hopefully Younger is looking at tracking data and is picking up who are the best finishers for where we tend to create chances around (the few we do create!).
I've said it before if the forward players aren't making the runs or taking up the right.position  then what chance have we of making chances? Look at our goal against Mansfield was it Barlow who made a great run in behind the left back received a lovely through ball then squared for the supporting Horton. Where were the pair of statues when this happened. Make the right moves and chances will be created
