Very good performance
« on January 18, 2022, 11:33:28 pm by Bailey Vickerage »
Best 90 minute performance of the season and as McSheffrey said in his post match, the first half was better than Morecambe but just missed that goal. Need to take the chances when we’re on top, especially in our position. One mistake at the end of the first half cost us and that sums up our season.

Said that after losing to Fleetwood and Morecambe we are going down after being positive for the first half of the season and being 11 points from safety it’s a massive ask but with performances like the last 2 games and a few new signings u never know. If we go down fighting and performing like the last 2 then I can’t moan at that.

That fist half was a revelation of top level effort and application .The will to equalise in the second half meant all hands forward deck and left us open to their counter attacks .Brave lads last night .

Some wonderful green shoots of positivity in the first half. Good interplay, progressive attacking, esp through Martin. Just could not convert, not through lack of trying.
The second half was never going to be as good, it would have been very difficult to sustain that sort of presssure. Those precious green shoots were literally combined off the field by a very very average Cambridge, whose only diff was their ability to convert chances.
Glad we went , just to see the promise that the first half served up. The 233 that went were in full supportive voice too and a complete credit to themselves and the club.

A game of contrasts.

A really, really good performance.

A really, really bad result.

Enjoyed the game though overall for about only the 3rd time this season.

It is a fixture I always attended from Brussels with my Cambridge buddy who passed away last weekend .The community of DRFC knew of his decline and his last Christmas he received a card signed by the senior management and every squad member .This sort of community spirit seems to grow and grow through all sorts of gestures that define what the club is about .This is a vital positive characteristic which prevails whatever our troubles on the fired of play .Last night Was special for me though I had to view on I follow and I was  proud of DRFC both on the field and behind the scenes .

I wouldn’t say it was very good overall. We were good at 0-0. Poor at 1-0. Better at 2-0. Didn’t really threaten enough at 2-1. We should have been battering the door down after we made it 2-1 and it all ended up being a bit aimless.

A cynical last man foul on Agard stops us taking the lead, knocked on that if it was at the other end we’d have seen a red card, the resulting free kick hit the bar, thats how our luck is going, at 1-0 up that could have been a totally different result

We weren't battering the door down because of conservative management. Barlow should have been on straight after 2-1 and go for it. Instead he came on in the 90th minute. GM doesn't make radical decisions that can turn matches.

Agard looks lively. His missed header looked a shocker though. The run and cross from Rowe for that chance was superb.

It wasn't a red, but I agree that if he'd not been fouled there's a good chance we'd have had the lead.

Sadly the ifs, buts and maybes haven't gone our way all season other than the Morecambe home game.
