Wendies have signed Smith and Ihiekwe from Rotherham - kick in the teeth going to local rivals. Guess they only like League One

I'm just having the same debate with a Wednesday supporting mate, he's trying to tell me Rotherham could have matched the wages & that it's the massive club drawing em in.
Shows to me their ambition is in their bank balances.

Just seen a Weds fan on Twitter suggest that it’d be a good move for Warne to join them as Moore’s assistant. It’s not even a joke he genuinely thinks that.

Something along the line of it’ll be good for him to get experience coaching at a big club was said as well.

I just don’t have the words for this level of delusion

Not that I’m bothered, but I fear for Rotherham this season up there. Already lost 2 of their best players and have no prayer of competing financially. Could be a very, very difficult season for them

I’ve had a delivery driver turn up at my work, I mentioned football and turns out that he’s a Rotherham supporter and he said their forum is in meltdown because of the two transfers yesterday

You have to admire to a certain extent the courage of anyone signing for Wednesdays on the basis that they're actually going to get paid. It's not been a strong point in the past.

That would be my worry if I was Wednesday fan. Where is all the money coming from for these signings, as they don't have a great record in the past of balancing the books!! Anyway I'm not a Wednesday fan so let them get on with it but I don't see it ending well!!

If I were Smith I’d be more worried about Moore’s grasp of tactics, he could end up playing left wing back

Wednesdays first 5 fixtures are tough too. Would love to see them fail after throwing the money about.

Shouldn't worry about Rotherham. They earned promotion, that's the aim afterall and you take the celebrations that come with it.

They will compete in the Championship and will hope they can make it stick this time. They will have to try and replace players but that's football. Where would they rather be?

Noticed Smith scored against Wednesday last season can imagine him kissing the badge etc and then ending up there
Both big losses for Rotherham and will take some replacing particularly as both left at the end of their contract so no fees (?)

Interesting how most of DM's signings at Wednesday this summer have been from teams that play practically the polar opposite style to his usual approach. Wonder what the thinking is (if any) there.

Bet it's same Rotherham supporting delivery driver who comes to our place, decent chap!
Suppose a promotion campaign at Wednesday is more appealing than a relegation season at Rotherham, especially when you get a payrise and signing on fee to boot. It's getting to a point now where the gulf in finances is just making competing impossible for small/medium size clubs, obviously you get the odd exception like Luton last season but that's becoming fewer and farther between.

Agreed but it is a very thin line between success and complete financial disaster as so many of the so called bigger clubs have found out. There are only so many promotion spots in each league.

its sh*t or bust for Darren this season. If theres no promotion he's a gonner. And if it looks dodgy for em early doors he'll be gone quick. Hope he's negotiated a good leaving package for himself.

Rotherham, like most other of the smaller clubs, will always find it difficult to stay up in the Championship.
