Hartlepool, Crewe, Gillingham and Carlisle all look on paper to be weak. Stockport, Orient and Northampton appear to have signed decent quality but again on paper

Don't think i know the players of this level so when looking down the list it's not like it used to be in the Championship or L1 where i'd know a lot of them.

But from what i can see Bradford signing Smallwood is a very good deal and and Stockport signing Camps is also a good midfielder for this level. You'd have to say Crawley signing the top scorer is also a coupe. But nothing else stands out for me.

Think our business doesn't look too bad so long as theres a bit more to be done

I agree the business we have done so far, is as good as any of the others quality wise. We just haven’t got all ours in yet.
On paper we haven’t made a bad signing so far. An advantage we do have is squad stability. Some of it through players being contracted, some because we wanted to retain them. Our side aren’t strangers to each other, unlike some of the other clubs players.
We know the positions we need to fill, whether permanent or loan, then it comes down to can this manager bring the best from what he’s got.

That is a question  but have  the recruitment team got the funds to bring the players they’ve selected to be the ones they want. If we do get those players and it can’t be late with the fixtures we’ve got first month.

Bradford obviously but they have lost 2 or 3 very good ones as well.

Currently, we stand about 8th in the betting (doesn’t mean a great deal) but I think that’s generous. I emphasise ‘currently’ because we havn’t even touched the defence yet, you know the same defence that conceded 80 odd goals last season, and we have a cb who is due to see a specialist, a right back that’s just out of hospital and a left back who is only a triallist (and isn’t a recognised left back - more a wing back and no experience in the league at all).

I think we’re not much more than a mid table outfit, but IF we get our other pieces in all the right places, then we could start to think about breaking into the top 7. The longer we leave our recruitment, though, the less likely we are to hold our own in those first few difficult games and that could have a catastrophic impact on what little confidence there is in the squad.

We need some movement and in a timely manner.

Looking at the others, all those tipped for the top end of the league, have all been strengthening. Even Clubs not expected to do well have been really busy in the market (e.g. Walsall have signed 8 so far).

We have defensive numbers, we don’t have a cohesive defensive unit. If we want promotion then those gaps at the back need plugging.

Very true but we've got a couple of young defenders who are good prospects and will be a year older. Also we should have better players in front of them which should take a bit of the pressure off and we won't be playing the likes of Ipswich, Rotherham, Wigan  and Sunderland which will make a hell of a difference.

We won’t be playing them Beast but our record against the other dross in League 1 last season ( the other 5 teams in the bottom 6 ) was awful.
In the 10 games we played against against Morecambe, Fleetwood, Gillingham, Wimbledon & Crewe we only won 2 of them, drew 3 & lost 5

Your referring to Faulkner of course who is not 18 until next month. Olowu though is only 22 i think. That’s classified as young in my book for a centre back at EFL level

Bradford with 2 more very good signings for this level - Halliday and Oliver. The question is can they and Stockport get all these new players to gel?
