I’ll be very disappointed if there is nothing in this. Not because we should be signing him - it would be an incredible signing if we did - but because this video is tantalising and on the official Twitter account. Just as the club are beginning to win over fans again, it would set relations back again. A bit of a piss take.
For me, anyway.

Isn't it just light hearted jest?

Quite possibly, but I don’t think the relationship between board and fans is ready for light hearted jest.
If it is, then I think someone is not very good at reading the room.

It's a video advertising the celebrity match next weekend from one of the managers involved. Anybody trying to read any more into it than that is bound to be disappointed. Or maybe not...

I see what you did there, Wilts.

Donny fans on Twitter getting excited that Sharp is a free agent and ‘might be coming back’. Media team tell Harry to make a joke about him not announcing Sharp. Surely it’s just a light hearted joke.

If it’s not all about money for Billy, which I suspect it isn’t, then it’s not the most unlikely of things.

He’s achieved his dream of playing in the premier league (and with Blades no less), he knows he won’t be first choice there. We know him and Copps are close and he has affection for the club. He could end his career as top scorer and another medal potentially rather than warming the bench.

“Heckingbottom has made no secret of the fact he wants to retain everyone who helped United secure promotion, including 37-year-old captain Billy Sharp who has been linked with a move onto the coaching staff.”

I can see the attraction of coming here for him but equally if he stays at United he’s got another shot at Premier League action for his club. Sure he’ll be mostly on the bench, but he’ll get a few minutes at Old Trafford, St James Park etc rather than Sutton or Crawley.

United might not be offering him a playing contract and only one to join the coaching staff and sharp might want to carry on playing
