Steve Eyre

Been impressed with what I've seen from Steve in pre-season and on the touchline, but just seen this weeks Red and White Show previewing the Salford game and Steve was guest, and I thought he was the most intelligent and considered voice we've had at Rovers since O'Driscoll. Hugely impressed with his comments on culture and team and community, and doing the basics in terms of the hard work - that we should expect as a minimum all players will have sweat on their shirts. I think this might be one of our best appointments in a long time.

I just watched the video also and think he is on par with ROC when he was here.
I also must say I think Rovers have a good guy in Robbie Andrews  as the face and voice of Rovers.
I like both the guy's

Love him from what I’ve seen, I’ve noticed him making his size known on touchline a few times already too. Must confess I know absolutely nothing about him pre rovers, where did he come from? Was he a GM recruit or a club recruit?

I think he is/will be one of our most influential appointments. Lots of experience and great personality. I'm sure he commands lots of respect from the players and will be a huge support for GM.

I just Wiki’d him and he’s not the bloke I thought he was lol!!!

His dad, Fred, was a player who I saw on the After Dinner Speaking circuit a couple of times. Funny bloke.

Interesting to note he was born in........ Salford

Former Man City youth manager.  Spent a lot of time working for City and had a lot of success there.

He was at Man City for some years. His dad is Fred Eyre who was at Man City as a lad with a young Denis Law before going into non league. Fred was doing after dinner speaking and also wrote three or four books about his time in football and building up his office equipment and supplies business. He is the funniest football writer I have read because his football career was at the lower levels. He even tells the story when he was on the Wigan management team and one of their players had to go off on a stretcher. He likened it to a Benny Hill sketch as the St. John's ambulance men managed to drop him off the stretcher twice. His first two books were A breath of Fred Eyre and Another Breath of Fred Eyre. They were the best two and a very good read for the older posters. I doubt anybody can read them without laughing out loud and I was crying with laughter when I read them in the 80s. A bit embarrassing as I was contracting away from home and there were lads from other companies in the digs.

Great tongue in cheek comment about Marcus Rashford being here at the Eco to support his mate Ro Shaun.

Recommend you listen to the Red n White show. Very insightful.

The changes & obvious improvements started as soon as he was brought into the senior management team. He is invaluable to what is happening at the club and long may it continue. In my opinion he has beentge best investment the club has made recently!!
