I think the local rovers beer had to be scrapped due to potential legal actual with 1879 tomos watkin. There was talk of it being renamed but apparently the costs involved were not feasible.

Nothing of the sort. It was purely a Covid decision.

How long does real ale last when  opened? I belive it has a relatively short life, with games in the main once a fortnight is it feasable to have real ales on tap?

Nail on the head. Real ale once tapped won’t last 2 weeks. It lasts 3-7 days at best.

Or up to two months if you’re stranded in the desert otherwise, pour it & chuck it!

It's all about personal taste Filo but the point i was making is that it would be nice to have the options. Bud, Fosters, Carling etc are all things i wouldn't drink if i was dying of thirst but if others want to drink it then it should be available for them. Those who don't want to drink that stuff have nothing else available to them.

Ah cheers for that knockers. Guinness i guess i could do yeah. Bods? Didn't even know that still existed? Thought it went out with the likes of Hofmeister etc years ago. Wouldn't have Boddies though. Awful stuff. Like Tetley, Stones and John Smiths. Vile flat goo.

There are some excellent ‘keg’ beers around these days from the likes of Thornbridge and others. These are not technically real ale but very tasty and made from quality ingredients.

The Belle Vue Bar really frustrates me. It has so much potential.

Fleetwood have a similarly sized bar at the stadium that’s well frequented with both sets of fans and that’s where the comparison ends.

At Fleetwood:-

- There was a great atmosphere inside with plenty of tables as well as standing areas. Pre match music played a part in the atmosphere too.
- There was a great selection of beers on tap, in bottles and everything was served suitably COLD in a clean glass
- The queue moved quickly as the systems for payment worked properly
- The place was well lit and nicely maintained - including the toilets.

In short, it felt like there was some care that goes into the Fleetwood set up. I’m not into criticising the club, but the Belle Vue Bar just doesn’t have that feel. Yeah it gets busy regardless so you could argue why should anyone care. But I just feel like it could be so much better.

Agree absolutely about the set up at Fleetwood. It’s always packed but you get served a damn sight quicker than you do at the Belle Vue Bar.

I think the whole lay out is wrong with poor use of space & furniture. Having a line of chairs facing a bare wall? What’s that all about?!

The club is certainly missing out on revenue, certainly when you take in the shocking service on the concourse.

Perhaps when the contract ends with ‘Pi** Poor Ltd’ the club might select any future contracts a little more carefully & perhaps even involve supporters who are after all on the receiving end.

I agree with the furniture etc,. There's always room for improvement but it's not far off.

It's the easiest thing to find fault but it serves the purpose. It doesn't want to get too much busier otherwise it'll be a victim of it's own success.

As said, there might be scope to improve things more when Sodexo exito!

Completely agree, not enough TVs. Definitely not enough furniture.

So much potential I would prefer we try and really give it a sports bar feel….it just feels sterile. The queue running right through the middle of the room doesn’t help at all.

In summary given the potential it has, it’s shite and probably wouldn’t cost the earth to improve.

As above, if they improved the furniture / layout, lighting, music, maintenance, cleanliness, effectiveness of payment mechanisms, selection and quality of drinks and the ability of the fridges to keep things cool then it would certainly improve.

Otherwise yes, it’s a good space.

If it’s maximising its potential with the current low care and maintenance feel then fair enough, your complacency is understandable. But numbers inside can be misleading. I tend to go in there to see my friends but rarely buy a drink any more as they’re just not pleasant. Sometimes I’ll queue for a water as at least the fact it’s free offers some consolation for the fact it’s tepid at best.

Use it now while you have chance if you want to, can't see it staying open when beer is £8 or more a pint when the energy caps kick in
2 out of every 3 pubs will close is a prediction I've seen

The energy price cap applies to domestic not commercial premises. Pubs don’t even have the limited protection afforded by the domestic price cap.

Beer up north isn't going to be £8 a pint though is it
