Club culture
« on September 08, 2022, 09:06:22 am by graingrover »
It was said that a change of culture was apparent from day one of the return to training pre season.
Copps has often stated in his autobiographical writing that he felt lost and depressed as a young player when he moved from his home and parents and friends.
What does Clayton do? He takes into his home a young player who is moving away from his own home for the first time in his life and shows he cares.
Culture is always set by those at the top of the pyramid.

That's a brilliant and very thoughtful move by Clayton, which will make the player feel secure, welcomed and cared for by Rovers. Well done Clayton.

To be honest I think Clayton is relishing this part of his career, he is certainly influencing beyond the actual match.
In addition to that amazing gesture, Ro Shaun credits him for his new perception
I’m so glad the deal for the Mansfield player fell through and we turned our sights on AC

"Culture is always set by those at the top of the pyramid."

How very, very, very true that is Brian. We are surrounded by examples: profesionally, personally, socially. Behaviour, in any sphere anywhere, is set by the behaviour of those seen as possessing more power. Children are a perfect example of that. But there are thousands more. We either get what we deserve, or, we get what we allow those with power to get away with. There is a lesson there.

Who is the player Clayton took in?
He car shares with Jack DeG he said in a recent interview - said Jack was introducing him to some young-people music, so might be him?

I’ve never ever heard this from a senior player/captain before in all my years supporting Rovers.

I’m not saying it’s not happened before because of course media reporting is far more in depth these days however, how refreshing to hear that we have a captain who at 33, not only carries out his ‘duties’ on the pitch but expands that role to the extent of inviting a young trialist (who has all the makings of a ‘special’ player for us) but also car shares & “is learning about new music” (!!) from a 19 year old!

You then have George Miller at 24 stating that he’s had captains he wouldn’t live miles near let alone live under the same roof as but Clayton, he goes on to say is not ‘one of those weirdo’s…..he’s the sort you’d run through brick walls for’.

Now that’s what you call ‘a leader’.

It seems the boy George thinks we're a culture club.
