Similarly the Sutton game. No shot at goal literally until we scored in the 92nd minute in what was a performance in the same vein as today's. How we managed to score 2 in 3 minutes that day when i'd have been grateful for just a shot on target as we approached the last minute is anyone's guess.

Personally dont believe the board have the ruthlessness to admit they got it wrong again and make the change. Can see mediocrity being fully supported until at least January.

I sit in front of the directors section, all I have to do is look over my shoulder.

We’ve got a Head of Football Operations now. If Blunt still makes the key decisions on players, managers etc what does Copps do?

I would think Blunt holds the purse strings. Copps makes observations and recommendations. If Mr Blunt doesn’t want to part with any dough he then says no or simply does what I do when the wife wants to buy something, cock a deaf en!

All playing decisions go through the Chairman Nick.

“Go through” is very different to “are made by”, though. Blunt will have had nothing to do with the players that we signed this summer other than to sign off on their contracts after ensuring that we have the funding still available in the budget - that’s it.

With the manager I’m not entirely sure as this is the first time we potentially will be making a change whilst having a HoFO in place. But I’d fully expect the management of the team to fall under Copps’ remit as well, so firing
would come from Copps’ suggestion (unless Blunt & the board believe that McSheffrey’s position has become untenable and take the decision out of Copps’ hands), and replacement shortlists would also be drawn up by Copps before being discussed and signed off by Blunt. As I say, unchartered territory, but if this doesn’t fall under Copps’ remit then I’d question the point of his role.

It’s easy to carp from the sidelines, but no single individual or group had the monopoly on wisdom or truth.

It is disappointing that we go one step forward then at best one step back - we get the club in a financially robust position then waste this on underwhelming signings who can’t be monetised, we introduce a DoF model yet give the job to someone with no experience in the role, we try and generate a club culture and promote from within, yet give it to someone who in reality clearly wasn’t ready for the role.

The club has done a great job building up the financial and physical infrastructure around the club yet we’ve made a succession of questionable decisions over a few years now, that leave us mid-table in the lowest professional tier in the game. We are not a financial basket case or either a governance or ownership car crash. Surely people must be asking how we are scratching around at this level playing this poorly and with so few obviously saleable assets? It’s an exceptionally poor return on investment.
