Sad, but how he got to 81 is a mystery. He was very prominent in the documentary about Laurel Canyon and the drug abuse thing.

Loved the Byrds and CSN when I was a young boy!

I should add I still listen to that stuff today.

He also did his own documentary - Remember My Name - in which he is brutally honest about his career and the mistakes he had made. Not an easy watch.

I only saw him the once, with CSN in 1983. Sounded absolutely gorgeous on stage but reading about him around that time they practically had to wheel him on and off stage. What a voice and what a character.

He did some great albums in the past 10 years, which are as good as any in his career, and the music world is slightly more diminished again tonight with another star gone.

Texted my son earlier today to say that all my heroes were going. Crosby and Jeff Beck this week alone!

My son loved Jeff Beck and saw him numerous times.
