Tackle on Maxwell SW corner 1st half .......
« on February 09, 2023, 01:21:24 pm by Donnywolf »
Crocked in first half right under Linos nose

1 Did their player go way over the top on him

2 Was it a Red Card tackle

And why did the Ref take no action unless he thought the answer to Q1 was No

On first and only look it looked a dreadful "tackle" but I would stand to be corrected

Note ... I have edited it because I thought it was Rowe that was tackled but was corrected because it was Maxwell

I think yes to all. Tommy looked really annoyed with the officials as he walked off, as if to say their lack of action had ended up with him getting crocked. Not having much luck injury wise the lad, which is a shame as he's the type of battler we need on the pitch.

He made it quite clear to both the ref and assistant ref in front of the West Stand on several occasions in the first half that he was being repeatedly clattered.

I thought it was Maxwell tbh, clattered after he cleared the ball on the touchline about ten yards from the by line?
Was a yellow for me.

Tommy got taken out thigh high and had a justifiable moan at Haines

If it's the one I'm thinking of, the ref had just booked two players for nothing, then walked away from that one on Maxwell which was a nasty, cowardly foul. Leaving your foot hanging with your studs up when someone is clearing the ball is a cheap shot. You've no chance of getting hurt but it invariably is very painful for the other player. Worst foul of the match and the ref walked away from it.

Was that incident the one where he gave Lakin a yellow card instead of Hurst?

Ok .... Why why why did the Ref take no action then ?

When I saw it I thought Red possibly Yellow. Ref stalks up looks like he means business , waves the protests of Rovers players and defences of Tranmere players away

I said he will be checking what Lino saw but whether he spoke to him by Mike or whether ( as we have suspected and said before ) Haines tells the Lino to signal Offsides Corners and Throw in and leave rest to me and of course saw nothing

BST ... Yes it was that very one and that made it even more frustrating

Pretty sure that's the one I'm thinking of - Rowe had had the leg of his shorts pulled up showing where he'd been hit.

TBF the West Stand Lino couldn’t even signal throw correctly gave a couple that had never in this world gone out then never gave some that were clearly out

We all knew what to expect when the ref was announced as Andy Haines. As usual he didn't let us down.
Totally incompetent, why is he still refereeing?

The one on Tommy was earlier in their half, actually gave the free kick to Tranmere which was correct in my opinion as Tommy clattered him and got the studs rake commiting the foul. The Maxwell one was right in front of me, I've seen straight reds given for that type of foot up and thought yep ref going to have a word with lino before the red is produced, but no not even a word with the Tranmere player. It must have been bad because Big Tom got involved in the protest along with Tommy who kept showing the ref the stud marks from his earlier one

It was Maxwell who got taken out, TR went over to the lino and gestured with a raised leg to say "did you not see the high tackle you waste of space"

The lino ignored him and the Incompetent ref just carried on in the same vein for the rest of the match.

Said at the time that should of been a straight red but in this league with these officials you would more likely get a telling off rather than the perpetrator.

Unbelievably useless.

It was never a red card. The lad didn't directly crash into Maxwell. But it was a definite yellow. He knew what he was doing raising his foot for Maxwell to make contact with on the follow through.

There's been a lot of that sort of challenge this season. We aren't doing it and weren't not getting protected by the officials.

Add the one arm throw ins that went on and they were just incompetent full stop.

Billu correct me if I'm wrong but don't you sit in the East stand? As I said it happened right in front of me in the West stone wall red with any other ref

I thought it was at least a yellow, what rubbed salt in the wound was he'd just booked one of ours for an offence nowhere near as bad.

I listened to it on iFollow and Our commentary team thought that it was a bad one. They couldn’t believe that the ref gave no card at all.

West stand. But I wasn't there on Tuesday. I watched online and replayed it several times.

It wasn't a red card for all the reasons I've said. But not giving a yellow was inexplicable.
