In my opinion Maxwell had a great game today full of energy and effort. RSW was also very good today too.

He is a class above this league in terms of technical ability.

I thought the whole team played well. The first half especially. The weather in the second half and a big factor to play.
I fully expect a win at Crawley.

His best game so far for us. I hope that performance gives him the confidence to move up another gear because I can see he has it in him.

Played really well, think his goal last week has given him more confidence.

Can play on the right in this role as well. If we continue with Knoyle at centre half I'd be tempted to swap him for Seaman and play Rowe lwb

When has Maxwell ever played on the right. He certainly hasn’t for us.  He is very left footed so lets keep him on the left.

I would have Knoyle instead of Seaman. We need him for his pace, crossing ability and assists.
Completely wasting him at CB  We need Olowu back asap then Anderson can play on the right of the 3 centre backs not the left as he has been.

anderson prefers playing on the left, even when we played a back 4, majority of his games have been as a LCB apart from when he’s played alongside Butler and the odd game he’s had with Olowu. I expect he will probs go to the right hand side tho when Olowu is back, can’t see him moving Williams to the Right when he’s been much better in the middle.

Best player by a country mile over recent weeks and missed him massively yesterday. It’s going to be a struggle without him, he’s often our most attacking threat and he and Hurst have a decent understanding. Rowe has been at best average all season and doesn’t possess an attacking threat playing in the same position.

Is he injured?

Think he picked up a knock in training on Friday

Rowe was awful at LWB yesterday, looks a shadow of the player he once was

Agree Filo, Tommy was certainly under par yesterday, he looked slow, ponderous, and got caught in posession a few times.
Hopefully just an off day for him, I'm sure we've all had days where we just don't feel up to scratch!

He's a victim of mis management (not just presently) and for being too flexible in terms of position. He's aging but we and he have missed playing him in positions in which he would have been more effective to the team.  He's been the band aid/plaster to cover up the bleeding, the bleeding obvious poor recruitment of the past.

Whatever the faults of the current team the recruitment has improved recently but isn't finished. With some summer departures such as Agard, Williams and Reo : we should (given the appropriate investment) be able to add quality to the squad alas that will be too late for Tommy I fear we've seen some of his best days wasted.

Tommy was taking painkillers before the match so he may be struggling but I agree he hasn't been at his best for a while.

Out of position, simple as. We would be far more effective with him further up the pitch.

I’m not sure Rowe is fit to play but he’ll do a job for the team as we are in need. If we had a back up right back I’d say it’s better to play them on the wrong side than a half fit Rowe but we don’t have that depth.

Can see Rowe making whatever injury he is carrying worse by playing then Lakin will end up LWB because he’s left footed.

Charlie Seaman is back up RB isn't he? You think we should play him at LWB?

How is Freddie Allen coming on, the young left back we signed from Norwich?
Maybe give him an opportunity at left back, rather than forcing players in there out of position.

I could be wrong but didn’t Rowe play a lot at left wing back for Bristol City? So possibly less a case of playing out of position and more a case of either carrying an injury or just not up to it anymore.

The wing backs are attacking enough in this formation. Rowe is fine there. Hopefully he just needs to get some sharpness back.

I’d rather have a 40 year old Tommy Rowe there than Seaman

Yes Tommy played LWB at Bristol City.
He did ok on Saturday not brilliant but ok, let’s remember it was probably a big occasion for Tommy going back to Stockport
