Someone on the Rovers YouTube show called him a “marquee signing for league one” a few weeks back.

His performance tonight was weak and pathetic against a National League standard side.

It’s his job to be the midfielder to show for the ball, receive it and look for forward passes.

He hid away from the ball all night and was risk averse when he finally got it.

Biggins isn’t great but he gives it a good go at least.

Sign Lakin and a man in the summer to play midfield.

I remember when we signed Close and a few people on here were telling us what a statement signing he was and it showed positive intent from the club.

Technically our best player, completely powder puff though. We might be able to afford that if the rest of the midfield wasn't also physically powder puff. And the rest of the team aren't playing like they've been smashing Quaaludes.

Close is a symptom of our problem really. On his own a potentially very good player with lots of positive attributes. He just doesn't fit with every other player around him because he was signed one talent id manager and two first team managers ago.

He was a bench warmer for a team in a similar position at the time to us, he was hardly Wellens in his prime.

Our expectations were well in their way to been lowered by then. A player on the bench for Pompey at that time became a top player for DRFC. Now a player from Scunthorpe is as good as we can hope for in Jan.

There are too many players underperforming and the midfields effort to create chances for Miller has declined to the point where he isn’t even touching the ball .

Close is ranked 75th in the league for chances created.

Close is ok. He’s not the kind of player that can lead and drive a team though.

He's had a handful of decent games when the opposition have sat off him and let him play. He's not what we need In midfield
