Bring Back Penney

Relieve Schofield of his duties ( and us of this dross ) and then ask Dave Penney, very nicely, to return and bail us out the shit.

Play 4 - 4 - 2

Recall Faulkener immediately and make him first name on team sheet, seconded by Ravenhill to give the side some balls. I want to see young local players who actually give a toss about our club.

Ring Fraizer Campbell who still has something to offer in league 2 and play him up top with either George or Lavery.

Get Molyneux and Hurst to watch some videos of Copps and McIndoe in their prime and perform their best imitations, keep chalk on their boots beat men and either get crosses in or cut inside and have a go.

Net result - entertainment, thrills and spills and an immediate increase in attendances.

Someone’s been eating too much red meat (see what I did there?).

b*llocks to it. Just get Ricky and Liam in the middle of the park hitting anyone they can get near with knee high reducers. Least it'd be worth watching then.

I think most of us agree with the sentiment, if we're gonna get beat let's at least have a go.
What happened to that performance at home to Stevenage? Yes we lost that one but it's the stand out performance of the season for me (I wasn't at Grimsby). Was this down to Danny or despite him? Wherever that performance that night came from it seems to have been coached out of em now....

I’d be having a serious conversation with the Worksop Town manager and his assistant (Worksop already promoted). They’re obviously doing something very right, albeit at a lower level, but we seem to be heading that way as things stand!

We could do with their Director whilst we’re at it.

Like a lot of things these days, this would be viewed as not the done thing, all the latest coaching and training manuals would have these types of tactics at the back of the book as some sort of reference to what used to happen.

What i say is take the coaching manuals and the halfwits who use them and throw them in the bin with all the other trash. We are a 4th tier club, we dont need the fancy dan latest fads and buzz words, get a decent competent manager who can rally and motivate players, get them to play a straight 442 and go out and find the biggest, strongest, athletic players to perform this plan.

After we have been promoted champions next season worry about all the fancy Dan crap then.

We would of had a season of something worth watching, something we can all buy into and bring some enjoyment and life back to a crowd in a stadium that just become a soulless bowl of misery.

Will any of this happen, will it fu*k but it ought to if we want to resurrect this club.

Ravenhill really? Come one he was sent back by a non league side because he wasn't good enough for them, and your suggesting to make him 2nd name on our team sheet all because he would give side some balls. Ravenhill should not be anywhere near the match day squad let alone starting.

Ravenhill is the exactly the sort of player the team is crying out for , a ball winner ,someone who does the ugly stuff ,the midfield have no backbone and pull out of 50/50 ,Hurst pulls out of 70/30 balls in his fayour

Need to get Brexit done and stop the boats while we’re at it!

Seriously though I agree with the sentiment of going back to footballing basics before we try to play fancy football. That’s a given that most people understand. Our manager and the people signing our players need to figure it out.

The manager and those around him shouldn't need to figure out basics of football like that it's not as if they're junior school kids.  These people have been professional footballers for the whole of their careers and played under successful managers, the game isn't like bloody brain surgery.

Considering what I saw at Bradford, Ravenhill would probably see 5/95 as a feasible ratio for attempting a tackle.

The sentiments of this are spot on. It's like the club is slap bang in the middle of an identity crisis. Maybe trying to regain our footballing identity and culture and adopting the club structure, processes and playing styles of a much larger and more sophisticated club would be appropriate if we still had those aspirations of getting to the Championship and staying there. Those were after all the stated ambitoions of the board until relatively recently.

Running the club like a Championship club made sense when the board wanted Championship football. They don't want it anymore and they don't financially support that aim anymore. So i'd agree with the suggestion that instead of messing about with a Director of Football and all that nonsense and trying to play the latest fancy style of football, that we should instead get an experienced manager in who knows his way around the lower leagues.  It really does pain me to say this and it really is a sign of how deep the rot has set in, but oh what i'd give to have a bit more of the Stevenage Borough about us.....
