Copps

Dear oh dear Copps, what on earth were you thinking with this appointment? Hardly any of us wanted DS, yet you got him the job on what exactly? A failed tenure at Huddersfield? Or more accurately being good mates?

Absolutely bonkers decision. DS said he wants to be the best coach in the world, yet Is he even on this planet? Outsmarted by counterparts at Harrogate, Hartlepool, Kings Lynn, etc, Outplayed by the likes of Crawley, the performances are not far off the 1997/98 season.

For Godsake get this fraud out (DS) before he takes us into the abyss.

Copps is part of problem - he should go too! Or rather be given a different role without footballing responsibilities

Mistakes can be made, the key to it is admitting you’ve made one before too much damage is done. We excitement, optimism and every player playing for his team mate at the side of him. Players can get managers sacked, they aren’t doing him any favours, but then again he’s doing himself no favours with the drivel he spouts.
Managing different personalities is more than looking at your coaching manual. I wanted it to work it hasn’t. It needs to end quickly otherwise the damage could be irreparable.

It's still early days but so far, the Head of Football role just seems like a bit of a window dressing exercise. A superficial change to give the impression that positive steps have been taken, but actually nothing has changed at all.

At this moment can anyone say that our recruitment of players and coaching staff has improved?

I wouldn’t give up on Copps or the HoF role yet. The logic of having it is fine especially when you’d have Blunt dealing with this stuff instead.

Copps got his 1st appointment wrong. Abd if he had any day in appointing McSheffery full time he got that wrong too. But benefit of the doubt let’s say it’s 1 terrible appointment.

Now his job is to have an effective plan B that can be implemented quickly. I’ll start losing faith if he gives DS the summer. If he acts not and quickly I’ll have some confidence things are better than they might have been had Blunt carried on. If we wait till next season to find it doesn’t work then Copps isn’t affecting the club. We’d have done that anyway without a HoF.

You could even argue the hated dragged out interview process that used to be operated might have got us a better manager than DS. But in summary Copps can win me round by moving fast to sort this. If not then yes appears to be jobs for the boys.

We don’t need a HOF. We are in league two, it’s a waste of money, that could be better spent on a proper manager. The board needs to pull its finger out. Admit it’s c*#ked up and go about having some ambition in turning the whole club around, otherwise actively search for a new owner to take over that will.
If they really care about the club, do something about it. They have the money they just don’t want to spend it on our club. What is the point of being involved if that’s your mentality.
John Ryan put his heart and soul into the club. They all did. Why has that changed?

I’m sick of being told things could be much worse. Yes they could be much better as well.
We have become a defeatist, grateful to be here bunch. It’s so sad to see. Where has all the fun gone?

We also appear to have backed ourselves into a corner by refusing to approach managers. We did this with SOD and it worked in spades. McCann was out of work and that was a success. Both options can work if you choose the right person, our issue is that we’ve cut down the available options by refusing to approach anyone. Seems an odd choice.

The board’s abdication of its player and manager appointments to Copps and Co , says everything about the situation. The club has effectively stopped engaging with on field matters . With little or no prospect of a clear-out of the players who are just not upto the job at the ending of the season means  a resumption of only bringing in players that have been discarded by even worse performing clubs and young loans from other clubs …so the ground hog effect starts . A glimpse of 23/24 is here and we are all sampling it now !!
