The positives taken
« on April 11, 2023, 08:51:40 am by Canadian Rover »
I did take away some positives from the game. Long and Faulkner could have easily coped as a centre back pairing in a four (Nelson is excellent btw and I hope he recovers) but Long and Faulkner are our players and both are solid enough at the back; Faulkner is the best prospect I've seen from the Rovers in many a year.

Mollyneuax - he's had his critics but he works hard. He's done well playing left back/wingback. He's never really had an opportunity to play his best position this season as a wide midfielder he's played as a full back, number 10 or as an inside forward. With a more astute manager he could be a gem.

Rowe. Much better in midfield. As a club we have not helped him in his latter stages of his career. Winger, Left Back, wing back, CDM, centre half - he's played everywhere for us. Stick a pair of gloves on him and he's probably better than Mitchell. He's the leader of the group without a doubt and without him I can only imagine where we'd be.

Close - a good technical player that with a good support around him can influence a game from the middle..if outnumbered in there he's on a losing battle though.

Barlow again like Rowe has played so many positions we don't know what he is anymore! He's put some effort in and shows glimpses of the England youth international. Possibly OUR Alfie May.

We've also seen the likes of Barlow, Ravenhill and Seaman that although are not consistently good enough for a regular starting place are easily good enough to be squad members and will help the team when called upon.

Crazy thing is if you look at this list ALL these players have either been misused or mistreated this season.

The only positive thing to come from yesterday's game was hopefully it is a step nearer the exit for DS.

There were some good individual performances, as a team though we never got hold of the game on the second half.
Agree with all of those mentioned in the OP, I also thought Westbrook looked a live wire.

Agree with Westbrook too he's a solid add and likely an improvement on Biggins (who's ok)

Only positive for me, 1 less game to play before the end of the season. This season can't finish soon enough for me.

Disagree with your opinion on Molly, he’s played mostly in his favoured position right hand side cutting in, he’s been atrocious in that position, yesterday left wingback and was awful there, Grimsby had all their joy down that side in the second half, a massive disappointment for me
