RSW has posted a load of Rovers photos on Instagram, the first ones since August. Might be nothing but hopefully means he’s going.

Thinking it should be out before the last game? Unless we are considering a change in management? Thoughts?

With all our injuries, CR, we're having to play some players who are out of contract. It might not be too wise to announce that some of them are done with the club, as regards to them having to perform on Saturday.

id imagine thats no big secret. otherwise contracts would have been offered. perhaps thats part of the reason we've been so shit. some of them gave up long ago.

Some of them never started in the first place

Come on, CBCB. He's one of the worst CBs we've ever had.

How can we ever be promoted with players like that?

I imagine CBCB is agreeing with me considering he’s been lamenting our defensive unit on here for 2 years + !

I can only really see potentially Barlow and maybe Jones offered a deal

Steve, I don't think we know just how good our defenders are, in every game they have been over run with little to no cover in front of them the midfield being played through so easily.
He is not the worst centre back defensively we have, has a rick in him admittedly but does not hide getting involved and has possession more than our front and midfield players which says a lot about our team, and another player that has had a style of play foisted on him he does not suit, hardly his fault.
There are a number of teams who play a more physical and less complex game in this division and above that he would flourish in and do well.
Knoyle for example didn't set the world on fire the first half of this season, some saying on here he was very poor defensively, and has become an integral part of a team going for promotion.

Last season I despaired at RSW and thought he was clearly out of his depth at that level.  This season he has still had some dodgy moments but has looked much more assured, is our best defender when it come to playing the ball out (a low bar I admit) and I have really warmed to his great attitude and commitment.

Genuinely think that for all the areas of strength within our central defensive unit, we are probably better off starting again from scratch. Getting rid of that whiff of failure and incompetence that has hung around pretty much since that debacle at Sunderland away in 2020/21. Walked all over, pushed around, bullied and disorganised.

It might yet prove to be a massive cock up making Copps HOF. Time will tell.

One thing's for sure; if and when DS is sacked , Copps will have to go with him.

Why would he?

Agreed! Not everyone and everything at the club is wrong.

CR and dickos; it was Copps who brought DS into the club, so how could the club sack DS for failure, but not Copps?

Also, do you seriously think an experienced manager coming in would want to work with a HOF, especially a failing one?

Don’t be daft, head of football doesn’t lose his job everytime a manager he appoints fails.
That would be ridiculous

So with a new man coming in he must have watched us play a few times to get the lowdown on the out of contact players or will they be told to leave

Not sure anyone has done enough to warrant a new contract. As above the only ones I’d consider are Barlowand Jones. Jones has already said he needs to be playing but I’d only see him as 2nd choice

Do we know when this is expected? Should be the easiest set of decisions ever.

Assume Copps will now be the ones sitting down with them to tell them?

Surely, they’ll consult with the new incumbent before announcing the released list. It could well be that that decision has already been made, of course, if recent rumours are near the mark.

Don’t they only have a few days after the season ends to issue their retained list? Therefore if a new manager isn’t in soon they may not be in a position to have a say on that list. Unless that is its part of the early discussions of him signing

P.S. The third Saturday in May is when the retained list have to be notified to the EFL

Grimsby have released their list.

Anyone remember the powerful wing back Josh Emmanuel from the recent home game? Gave Molyneux a tough time. They signed him from Hull.

He hasn't signed on for them after a short term contract to regain his fitness after a health issue. I understand Grimsby thought it would be unrealistic to keep him. He was signed by Hull in 2020 and given his breakthrough by you know who.

I think he has a heart issue. I’ve heard he was playing to the end of the season then maybe considering retirement

He had a blood clot and due to blood thinning drugs wasn't allowed to play. Sounds like he's now had the all clear. Would be a decent signing in a position we need. He's definitely better than League 2.

Only chance we'd have of getting him is by having McCann, otherwise he's above us currently.

The decision on who stays and who goes has been put on hold until the next manager is in the building

The only one I'd keep is Louis Jones. MOM in his last two games.

Retained list got to be in by May 20th that’s why the new boss GM will be in within 10 days for that, he’s already discussing the current squad with the HOF

It can’t be a different decision for the new manager.

Surely there’s only arguments for Jones and Younger getting deals?
