Expected to sign with Notts County very soon having scored 25 goals in league 1 last season. Would be a very good signing for them. Does it give anyone hope Sharp may actually drop to league 2?

If that is the case then Notts County will be flying this season. He is still a class act.

Forget about Billy Sharp. It ain’t going to happen.
He could still be the Blades next season in the Premier League. Used as an impact player off the bench
No way is he dropping to League 2.

I read on the Blades forum this morning that their delayed retained list has been confirmed with Billy released, although I've not seen any official confirmation.

No reference to him being offered a coaching role.

Karl you started the rumour about x2 37 year olds so why don’t you tell us if you have any hope?

McGoldrick started his trainee at Notts County so it wouldn’t be a surprise if he goes back there.

Not necessarily Paul. I work in Sheffield with some blades, and they are convinced there is some truth to the “us or Bradford rumour”

They acknowledge he’s lost a yard of pace but still believe he could do a job in league 1, however Billy wishes to stay local.

They also said broadbent is a good box to box player.

He always seems to score when he plays against us.

Hope you a right. Not about Bradford of course.
Cant see it but if he is happy to take £3000 a week as I can’t see us giving anyone more as it would take too much budget away from the rest of the squad budget.
I heard he wasn’t being released by Blades but that came from my neighbour who is one of their armchair fans, he is nearly 80 so I let him off.   :)

I think a few will drop the leagues this pre season. We’ve already got one in Richard Wood. If they see an ambitious side, they will put up with dropping a league or two for the long term.

Michael Bostwick dropping to NLN to play for Boston after playing 30 times last season for Stevenage is an odd one, would have thought he could find at least a lg2 club?

Tomlin and Clayton both played in the Premier League but at 33 /34 neither could keep pace with League Two. When the legs go that’s it.

We can’t play the pressing (and at times more direct) football Grant wants with a 37 year old Billy Sharp up front.

He will stay at SU for a cameo role, then retire and have another role at the club

Stockport will have to add some quality to last season's team to win the league. They looked mediocre every time I saw them.

I've no doubt they will strengthen the squad, and they'll need to, because the squad we'll have this coming season will be better than the one they had last season.

Derby probably thought the same last season in league 1 when they brought him in, obviously he did his bit with his goals but a lot of clubs this season will fancy their chances.

He has done well at Notts but his record at Swindon wasn't very good, I would rather have McCann.

Best record in the league from October by a distance.

That's right, and then in the play-offs they showed the same sort of unimpressive form they'd shown at the beginning of the season.

He did an excellent job last season. If he leads Notts Co to back to back promotions in 23-24 then you might be right. But as things stand I wouldn't swap McCann for any current League Two manager.

6 goals in 10 games v Rovers. Not a bad old record, that!

*In fact, 6 goals is the most that he has scored against any opponents (Leeds, Burnley and PNE being the others) but he's played more games against all three of those...  :chair:
