Biggins
« on June 15, 2023, 12:13:05 am by Ryaldinhio »
Seen a few negative things about the lad on here and that he struggled last yr etc.

For me he took a step up in quality and he more than delivered. Few shaky moments but for me personally he was my player of the Yr last season.

Hurst was leading the way first 10-15 games then dropped off but for me Biggins was consistent.

Considering what a bad yr it was for the club and the changes etc that this lad walked into I can't understand some of the negative stuff I have read on him.

Am I watching a different game?

He seemed to improve quite a bit after GMS left, I’m sure he wasn’t allowed in the opposition half in that time. Unfortunately he was paired with Close so the work wasn’t spread around equally. Got it all to prove to GM though but there is a decent player in there

He will do better this year.

First he was put with Clayton and Tomlin and then with just Close. Any midfielder at this level would have struggled with that work load.

Fully agree, there’s a player in there that a decent manager and a balanced formation will get the best from. Also true of Miller, Molyneux and Hurst. Looking forward to seeing them flourish and kick on this season.

For me he is the main starter in midfield currently without seeing any of the new signings.

Tracks back, gets forward, scores goals, doesn’t get bullied, just needs a better team around him.

He was ok last season. Probably the best if a bad bunch in midfield.

He would look twice the player with better support around him, looks like GM is on the ball with this and will have a midfield with tempo, guile and work rate, something we struggled with most of last season. In a setting like that Biggins will prove his worth as a good box to box player who will get his share of goals.

I think Broadbent Bailey and Biggins will be McCann’s preferred 3. Not bad having Rowe and Close as back ups.

Ahead of Close imo. Love having a player who can score direct from a free kick
