Our signings so far
« on June 16, 2023, 08:56:39 pm by dickos1 »
There’s a guy on Twitter who is unbelievably knowledgable about the efl. Whenever a club makes a signing he gives a good bit of feedback on them.

He’s just tweeted this

I can't believe how intrigued I am by #DRFC and McCann so far, every bit of business has been exceptional.

That’s good to hear. Wood and Ironside apart, I have no knowledge at all of any of the others we have signed.

I don’t think there will be any similarity at all. Totally different players and Syers was no more than National league standard imo. Yes he gave 100% but had limited ability.
So I think and hope Bailey will be a much better player.

I was trying to be complimentary CR. Syers made that Saunders team tick in an understated way. An unsung hero who also popped up with the odd goal. Paul Green being another example years before. These sort of players are gold in L1 and L2 and we haven’t had anyone like that for years.

Bailey isn’t a box to box player like Greeny and Syers were.
Broadbent is the one we have brought in to play that role.
Bailey is more a defensive midfielder.

What I like about it, Is the manager knows the qualities he wants for each position, and he has gone out and signed players to fit those roles.
He’s brought in young, hungry, ambitious players who have improvement in them. Also experienced players that have been there and done it, at a higher level.

He’s recruited players that have been involved with success at their previous clubs, whether that’s been play off winners, cup winners, most have a medal or two in the drawer and will want a few more.

There is no guarantee of success, some might not work out. He still has to forge those individuals into a team that is hard to beat.
I’m optimistic he will be able to do that. I see no reason if most work out why we can’t be fighting for the title.

Exactly, if they gel, in view of the work rate then we are going to have a good season.

Happy with the signings but more so why Grant says they’re here & what he sees them bringing to what he wants to see as a real, exciting force for the fans to ‘buy into’ this season.

The signings of Wood and Ironside is good business, but the rest are unproven at our level, GM has a great eye for players, but the excitement has to be tempered for the moment, just in case it doesn't go to plan. Let's see what else happens, there might be a big signing yet to come.

Good players who are of a good age, temperament and are proven at League 2 level will get signed by League 1 and above clubs.

We have a lot of squad depth and players who can fill out various tactical roles. The best XI will work itself out.
