Stockport County away problems
« on October 09, 2023, 05:47:26 pm by Lincoln Rover »
Hi all.
I’ve been in touch with Gavin Baldwin today re the above.
To keep you all updated, our club have formally written to Stockport asking for their comments/observations about what happened in & immediately outside the ground.
Gavin stated that Donny were fully aware of our fans concerns & had instigated this prior to our discussions.
If/when a response is received I’ll update you all on this forum.
Thanks.

This is part of the match day guide.

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE PILOT SCHEME
To support the rehabilitation of those identified as having engaged in negative matchday behaviour, a new pilot scheme is now in development phase which will refer young people to a restorative justice education programme that will seek to inform and educate about the impact of their behaviour on others.

The scheme is being run by the Premier League, EFL, Premier League Community Fund and the EFL Trust with support from local police forces and will be trialled at ten clubs across the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two.

Football has the power to unite and inspire all those that play and watch the game. However, sometimes, this can be negatively impacted by a small minority of players, coaches and fans.

Our collective approach is to reset this behaviour on the pitch and from the side-lines, whilst giving our referees the respect and protection that they deserve. We are also determined to address the rise in unacceptable behaviour from the stands. Incidents such as dangerous conduct, discrimination, and chanting about football-related tragedies have no place in our game – and can lead to football bans and potential criminal action. Passion, emotion and excitement are fundamental to football; however this must be shown in the right way. Everyone can play their part, so that together we can create a safe and enjoyable environment for all.

Supporters have a long track record of policing ourselves so it’s vital that we show real leadership and demonstrate our opposition to tragedy chants, gestures, and slurs at all grounds and on social media. Let’s Keep the passion and lose the poison.”

Let's not go back to Hillsborough again please

One of the primary causes of that (amongst dozens put forward) was that people were crushed to death unable to escape from behind the Fences and the whole Pen(s) became "death traps" literally

And the Fences were there because ?

Because since the late 60s early 70s people going to Football Matches did not behave and invaded pitches often to get to opposition Fans , to cause trouble , and to keep causing trouble

I lived through both and lots of people stopped going to Football to avoid the troubles. It was awful to have things thrown at you , having Coaches attacked , people wanting to beat opposition Fans up because their team had lost and often even when their own team had won

It was a horrible time to watch Rovers and it was horrible to live through Hillsborough in particular. I feel lots of Fans caused that by causing the Fences to go up everywhere and I for one hope we can stamp out a return to these dark ages by getting those who were not around to realise it was similar actions that got us there

In my lifetime or anyone else's I could never have envisaged Fans travelling here there and everywhere in Team shirts , scarves and other colours which used to have to be hidden to prevent " trouble "

I've got to say it's great , it adds to the atmosphere and it means the vast majority want that to continue and we must persuade the minority to stop the creeping escalation of problems in and around Grounds. Believe me it is so much better now than it was back then.
