Rowe/ Molyneux

Personally I'd swap them around and play Rowe at wing back. Better defensively and okay going forward in that position. Currently he isn't offering enough in the position he's playing all be it only 2 games since his ban.

Molyneux needs to be up the pitch all game. Much bigger goal threat and better on the ball.

This obviously until Maxwell is back as Senior will probably play as part of the 3.

Unfortunately I wouldn't have Rowe in the team.
We do need to get Molyneux further up the pitch as soon as Maxwell or Senior back. But fair play to Molyneux at the minute he's doing his bit for the team and really putting a shift in like yesterday and doing his bit defensively for the team.

Both are very good players for us and I'm happy to see Tommy back in midfield. He also wins a lot in the air .

I'm a massive fan of Tommy - and watch every game as he runs his blood to water, chasing, harrying and closing down for the full 90 minutes, But that's it, there's nothing else left anymore. Every time the ball comes near he no longer has the time and space to do the damage he once did and creates little or nothing these days. I really hope he proves me wrong and once again he comes good.

Broadbent has all the attributes to become a younger version of TR and would be worth a run in that No 10 berth behind the front two.

Rowe’s issue is that his game has been built on athleticism, work rate and good end product. He’s never been a great passer or good on the ball. As his physical attributes diminish he doesn’t have a great deal to fall back on.

Even if Rowe can't get about as much as he used to, he can surely still wind up the left peg from 20 yards when he gets a yard of space and get some goals for us? Obviously not a tactic that's going to work in some games, especially away, and/or when we've not got the majority of the ball, but at home when we're favourites or as a sub late in games I'd think he still has plenty to offer.

FWIW I thought he was alright on Saturday, and I prefer him starting to Broadbent atm who looks off the pace to me.

I think at the moment a lot of Tommys input goes unnoticed

Agreed.

Last two games, we've set up with Faal and Ironside pressing very high when the opposition defence has the ball. That only works if you've got someone working hard, intelligently and with discipline to make sure no-one takes advantages of the gaps that leaves behind them.

That's what Rowe had done.

It worked beautifully against Crawley.

Away against possibly the strongest side in the division, it allowed us to match them for 70 minutes. Just think what Saturday would have been like without that high press, allowing them to walk the ball into our half.

I'd stick with Rowe in that position for this run of nominally easier matches and see if we can gain some positional dominance.

For me TR is a tremendous competitor & what he lacks in guile he makes up for in energy and commitment. Obviously he’s not getting any younger but brings a hell of a lot to the team. I get pissed off with us being out muscled in midfield but Tommy is still strong & he's also clever which makes him a real asset currently. Imo keep him in as we don’t have his like to take his place.
