Sounds very experienced and boy, do we need as much help in this department as we can get.

He's likely to be very busy and he could play a very important part in the rest of our campaign and beyond.

Generally, it does sound like we're trying to raise the standards which is a very positive step. Time will tell of course.

He sounds like he knows what he's doing and his acknowledgement that the existing physio team can be developed to produce improved results is very encouraging.

Good encouraging interview. 21 years at Leicester City and last appointment with Nigel Pearson at Bristol City. Grant did a good job of convincing him to come here.

So as I understand it, he'll be working above the physios and tasked with appointing them and getting the department running how he wants it? Or is he effectively just the head physio with a new job title.

Either way, the fella talks about a challenge - turning around our injury record will be his biggest one yet, I suspect.

Just googled - apparently Rennie's most effective with heartburn and indigestion. Probably not a bad thing as I spent most of last season feeling bilious.

I’ve met Dave in the past and I know his wife. I sent her the job advert when I saw that he left Bristol City
I can’t directly claim the credit (or maybe I can

Do we need someone in this position?

With the amount of long term injuries and lack of decent rehabilitation programmes we get then yes.

I wonder what the actual costs of these injuries have been? Not just medical bills etc but player wages paid for no productivity.

We have highly trained, experienced physios at the club. There are fairly obvious ways we could improve our fitness issues without having to employ someone else.

Put more thought into signings. Signing known dodgy players like Sterry and 40yo’s like Wood then complaining when they get injured is madness. In the same way signing players to play a physical, high tempo game when they haven’t proved they can play that way is madness.

We rush players back into starting games as well. Whiteman, as an example, is Preston’s best player. He was out injured at the start of the season. He had 4 30min sub appearances before starting his first game. He was on the bench again for the midweek game before starting the following week. It feels to me like we never really drip feed the usual guaranteed starting players back into the starting XI. That would make a difference I’m sure. I wish I had the time to look into when players picked up injuries. I’m sure I’d find some sort of trend.
