Probably because they've also been paid off to not submit a bid

Think our FA have decided not to waste any more money bidding for a World Cup which we have zero chance of getting due to bribes and corruption.
Can you blame them? No not imo.

Will I ever see another World Cup in England / UK during my lifetime.
The last one I was 11 yrs old & I am now 68.  I am not holding my breath.
It’s a disgrace though. We are one of the major Football nations on the planet. The best League structure probably of any country in terms of quality.
Is there any country in the world that gets gates of 10.000 + at some games in the 4th tier. Don’t think so.
Oh yes we bloody well invented the game just in case those cretins in FIFA had forgotten.

Saudi Arabia yet another country with an outstanding human rights record.
Well done FIFA  you never fail to amaze me. NOT.   :headbang:

I wonder how many more clubs they will own by then?

I wonder if they'll force through a European Super League and/or a World League by then with more games being played globaly.

I wonder how many more sports they'll have financial control over by then? Golf seems to be going that way too.

I'm not particularly bothered about where the 2034  world cup will be held but what happens to our game in the meantime. Surely FIFA will resist the lure of huge sums of money to protect the history and traditions of our game?

Last sentence DBR very wishful thinking I am afraid. Blatter may have gone but FIFA can’t be trusted to run the beautiful game. Corruption corruption corruption. They are only interested in lining their own pockets.
Who are they accountable to? No one. They do what they want when they want and there is no one doing anything about it.

Don't hold your breath, Baz. People have been selling their souls to the devil for huge amounts of money since time began, and FIFA are no different.

In fact, when you look at the likes of Blatter and Platini in the past, they're probably among the worst.

Personally I don't really care about where the World Cup is held. I want England to win even in a tiddlywinks contest but my first love is Rovers and their future. Anything else is just a bonus.

On a brighter note, some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had was from a chippy in downtown Riyadh

Can’t wait for this and the 20 minute preachy intro from Lineker or Neville complaining about Saudi human rights whilst they take the hosts schilling.

It’s this. Australia probably got one hell of a trade deal in return for pulling out.

The 2030 World Cup will be held in Europe - therefore England/the UK would not be eligble to host the 2034 one It had to be in Asia (Australia is in the Asian Confederation), Africa or South America.

The earliest one England could bid for is 2042.

Will we get the 2042 World Cup if our FA bid for it?
So that’s 76 yrs after we hosted the 1966 World Cup.  That is guite absurd and a total disgrace.

Oh and I will be 87 yrs old in 2042 if I am still here!!!  Thanks FIFA really appreciated.

I have up on fifa when they gave it to Qatar. The World Cup lost its magic and status for me that day when they give it to a country with no football history or interest.

Look at Saudi, the team Henderson plays for and Gerrard manages got a crowd of less than 700.

At least the euros are in Germany a proper football country.

They have been known to move away from this protocol from time to time though, WR.

34 & 38 were both in Europe(Italy & France); 54 & 58 were both in Europe(Switzerland & Sweden); and 2010 & 2014 were in Africa & South America(South Africa & Brazil).

This is the new protocol in place since 2007 Steve. No country may bid to host a WC if their confederation has hosted either of the previous two WCs'.

So because the 2030 WC is partially in Europe (Portugal & Spain) the earliest we could bid is 2042.
Dunno. I will put a tweet out if that helps!
