Agreed Billy. They were all crap. And you can add to that list Sven and that useless Italian bloke they drafted in. They all won the same as Southgate. They were all tactically inept and frightened to death to play attacking adventurous entertaining football.

Far too many managers these days are too concerned about outside influences and what the press and others have to say about them,

Just think what a manager like Brian Clough could have done for the national team if given the opportunity?

I see that France could only get a draw tonight in Greece.

Southgate and England are a complete embarrassment. We deserve better.

Ha ha
In comparison to what?
We’ve never ever had it this good so not sure why you’re embarrassed

I thought the direness of the game would have helped my mission to buy tickets to a future game, but the Brazil game in march was sold out on day 1 whilst I was still in the virtual waiting room ffs.  Already gone and booked a hotel..  :-(

I had priority tickets for Brazil, but Rovers v Forest Green takes precedence  :) :scarf:

Whether you like Southgate or not, these two points are fairly uncontroversial.

First, for a long time we have absolutely waltzed through qualification without any difficulties at all.

Second, rarely (it does happen) does the best or most attractive side win the World Cup. All that matters is being one goal or penalty ahead of the opponent. If you play diabolical football from start to finish but win 1-0 in a knock out game. That is success. Playing like a latter day Brazil 1970 in knock out games and winning 9-0 doesn’t allow you to leapfrog a round. Winning is all that matters in tournaments and Southgate has a more than decent record in knock out games.

Please remember dickos that some people don’t understand the finer details of football so forgive him.

Hopefully Gareth has finished trying to shoe horn Trent into the team?! Single biggest thing I take from these two games. He's a very very good player but in an area where we have an embarrassment of riches. Wouldn't make the squad for me? (Which I also think is harsh on him, but he just doesn't fit?)

I know they're not as good at the moment, mate, but don't forget Greece actually won the Euros one season.

I totally agree Auckley and at the end of the day he’s scouse not English - seriously though he’s not good enough to play midfield at international level

In 2004! A lot can change in nearly 20 years - Charlton, Portsmouth and Bolton were all Premier League clubs and we won the title.

I’d imagine that they’re ranked similar to North Macedonia these days.

Yep, Leicester won the PL a few years ago too but I don’t think they would be a threat these days.
