Broadband

Anyone with any opinions, good or bad, on broadband providers?
Looking to leave BT shortly,as very expensive & contract up for renewal, but struggling to find an alternative with decent reviews on trustpilot.

I’m with TalkTalk and it seems ok. No issues to report.

I'm with TalkTalk too and if it isn't a dry, windless day it's not very good. Depends where you live I guess.

Need to take plenty of the trustpilot reviews with a pinch of salt, some people are far to quick to blame everything bar themselves.

Every broadband provider i've ever had have all been fine, its a pretty simple service, you have it installed and you connect to it, i'm not sure why so many struggle.

My current provider is Plusnet, got a really good deal from them and have had zero issues with it.

I've been with plusnet for at least ten years and had very few issues.  The thing I like most is that all of their customer support services are local and provide excellent service.  The last time I needed it I found I was talking to someone at the BT service centre round the corner from the Eco Stadium.

We're with Plusnet. They aren't the cheapest but I can't remember our internet dropping out, and apparently customer service is very good although we've never had cause to call them! Previously I was with Talktalk and while it was fast and cheap it'd drop out at least once a day. If you can deal with that inconvenience it's fine, but if you need to work from home or something it can be a nightmare.

Thanks for the info guys. Think im gonna try plus net. Quite a bit cheaper than current deal & apparently owned by BT so switchover should be reasonably straightforward

I'm with Sky, and had problems for years with slow speeds and the internet dropping out every day. Also, I had lots of crackling and hissing on the landline phone.

A Sky engineer from Newcastle told me the problem was that the Sky fibre broadband was only to the street cabinet, and not to the premises, which were connected to the cabinet with old copper wires which had probably been there over 70 years.

Because my Sky bills were high, and I'd been with them for many years, this guy got an engineer to come out and install fibre to the premises free of charge, and as an extra, TNT Sports free as well.

My internet never drops out now, and the speed's gone from 12 to 150. Also, the phone's as clear as day.

I had similar problems with sky, they would never get an engineer out as they have to pay openreach, I switched to BT fibre to cabinet, was lucky to get 1mbps, when full fibre to property came along I switched to that with BT, now get 900mbps
