...last time we played Wigan in the Area QF of the EFL Trophy.

You were either there or you weren't.

Happy and Wet?
Unusual names your mates had Selby.

Did Grumpy and Dopey come along too?

I was there with me Dad, both going nuts when Bruno scored.
I saw the bank sliders though fortunately didn't go down myself

Said it several times before on here. One of the best away experiences i have had in the 40 years of watching Rovers. Got back on the coach covered in mud, but i didnt give a dam. Was buzzing so much after that game i hardly slept that night. We knew we had a real chance of getting to Wembley.

Halifax were swept aside 3-0 next tie, only to lose to Tranmere in the Northern final.

Great memories.

I went. Was  at Uni at the time so only 30mins or so away on the train. Took my 3 Man Utd supporting mates with me. Got to Wigan at about 4.30 and ended up having to get a taxi to the ground as we were enjoying  the pre match far too much.
Was a great night

Phew. Thought I'd got it wrong there for a moment. That was 2nd round, not Area QF.

Bonus point to anyone who remembers what DID happen in the Area QF that season.

Yes was there.
It never stopped raining all game.
Drowned rat at end but a happy one after winning.
Only game I ever remember us winning at Springfield Park.

Was this the one where Kev Noteman thought he'd scored, wheeled away celebrating only for the ball to get stuck in the mud before it crossed the line?

We did. Only things more frozen than our defence that neet were my nadgers.

I worked for British Rail at the time. I knew if I set off for the game, I wouldn’t be turning up for work the next day. I left British Rail soon after.

Not at that one but a previous night game where I remember the goal posts as being the thinnest I'd ever seen

That was the Tranmere Northern Final away leg at Prenton Park.
How Kevin Noteman managed to fail to score is one of the great mysteries of the modern world.

I was at Tranmere that night for Noteman’s moment he played it towards goal, wheeled around in celebration and the ball stuck on the goal line & was hacked away.

Re the Wigan game & the Sarge goal. Remember the game and the goal, actually fell over at the end of the game.

I texted my Man Utd supporting mate who accompanied  me that night in light of this draw. Came back straight away, 'Bruno, Bruno,'
He obviously  remembered  it fondly

I've still got the old VHS video of the game somewhere.
