Hands up
« on January 29, 2024, 04:29:12 pm by Upton Rover »
I’m very interested on how the poor performances over the past 3 years are affecting peoples support for the club. I myself have not attended many games over the past 18 months due to health issues, but have watched many a game on Player, “many times from a Hospital bed” and I will be honest I’ve switched that off many a time from the end. I now am in a health position to start attending some games, but can’t seem to get my passion to attend to watch the team I love performing like they are.
So how many of you have missed games home or away that you would’ve attended? If so is it a lot? How many have stopped attending? I know all the love for the club and thick or thin, but there comes sometimes when to say enough is enough.

I've just been on the way home from work on the train in Doncaster. 2 kids were randomly sat behind talking "what's the point in spending our money when  we know we are going to get thrashed."

I'd say they were 14 / 15.

I'll go whatever, but that's the long term impact.

I fear it maybe too late to throw a bit more cash at it and invest, to save us from the drop.

I know several fans that age, who until last season had been season ticket holders since they were at junior School, now the interest has gone.

Watch every match on IFollow.
I’ve not switched off, but crikey there’s been a lot of games in last 3 years I’ve been tempted.

Just waiting for that ‘moment’ when I feel we’ve turned a corner.

Though to be fair Rovers is my only reality check in a lovely life in a ‘Spanish bubble’ so I can take this imperfection, just!

They’ll be a generation of fans from 2002 ish onwards that only ever knew success for several years when we were on the up. We know the fan base grew in that period.

I’d be very surprised if we’ve attracted any new fans in the last 3/4 years.

I had only missed 2 home league games in the last 14 seasons up to last year as a STH.
Last season I missed 9 including the final 5 home games , I haven't bothered renewing this season and it looks like I won't be bothering next season either.

Watch on IFollow it's a very easy option every Saturday to click away from the terrible IFollow feed and boring commentary with shitty poor football to watch very good premier  games in HD and a much better feed. I don't though I always tune in (unless I'm at work) but I do get my dad a season ticket and we'll his love for the "gift" seems to be waiting as it's just not enjoyable.  Supporting and following is one thing enjoying the Rovers seems to be an entirely different thing.

I have missed several games this season due to health issues, but I don't feel I'm missing out on a lot, other than the pre-match day experience and the general chat during matches.

I don't feel so guilty though because I'm still supporting my club financially by having a season ticket.

Not only that but season on season we are gradually getting worse and worse, and worse.

And that's hard to argue against.

The thing is you'll always get owners such as JR but it wasn't going to last forever and was eventually going to come to an end.

Thing is you don't just stop supporting a team even if they're struggling however it is hard to argue against fans voting with their feet when we are so poor.

I noticed you’ve been missing Dave and was going to ask the Postie about you on Saturday but I walked out on 55 minutes and didn’t get the chance.
Hope you pick up soon!

You’re not really called Bentley?
Or is that just a nod to Trigger?
Hope you feel better soon, either way.

Cheers Belton. Yeah, my real name's Rodney Bullet but Knockers has always called me Dave for some reason.

All the best BB. The club needs all the support it can get between now and the end of the season.

I have been following Rovers since the early '70's & had a season ticket in the 1997-1998. I wont criticise anybody who wants to stop going for any reason, that's up to them, but I will still try and get to as many matches as I can.

Money has stopped me attending, but I have ifollow to listen to and rarely miss a game, but I have just switched off several times this season, it is just too depressing to listen to.

I live 90 minutes away and have a business so find it difficult to get to many games, however I've been to more this season than the previous two. Why? Initially the fact we eventually brought in a 'proper' manager and there was renewed hope. I still think the football played is an improvement (not the best time to make that statement I know) but the results still are not coming. I'll continue to get to as many games as possible and just hope we can hang on!!

Like I assume most others do I have started each season with a degree of optimism. This season to see more enjoyable and entertaining games. After a ropey start things picked up and I started looking forward to going to games.

The last two months when you would have thought the team got to grips with McCann's style and kicked on it's gone totally the wrong direction. Since Faal lost interest or form the team has nosedived back to last season form.

There's something going on we're not privy too. Have the players given up on McCann? Have many been told they can go or will not be here next year. I reckon most should go by the way.

Not intending to go to the next few games and I might be done for the season.

Saturday was the first game I've attended this season, I suspect it could be my last.
