Bottom 2s run in
« on February 04, 2024, 08:34:07 pm by Lesonthewest »
FGR                                  Sutton

 Mansfield  H            Morecambe A
Barrow  A                  Wrexham H
Crawley A                  Bradford A
Tranmere H               Colchester H
Wrexham H               Notts C. A
Grimsby A                 Tranmere A
Walsall H                   Grimsby  H
Bradford A                 Crewe A
Sutton H                     FGR A
Doncaster A               Accrington S. H
Stockport H               Salford A
Crewe A                     Swindon H
MK Dons H                Stockport H
Mansfield A               Harrogate A
Wrexham A                Crawley H
Morecambe A           MK Dons A
Notts County H

Those last 7 for FGR look a bit tough. Thoughts for a final points haul for these 2?

We just need both to take some big defeats if they pick up a positive result then it could push them on to another and another which we can ill afford

Some teams pick up unexpected points when fighting relegation. We need to start winning.

I remember when I was a kid helping my dad do the football coupon.
All logic went out of the window towards the end of the season when teams at the bottom started to get improbable wins and draws against teams near the top.

There’s some decent value bets to be made near the end of football seasons just by looking at which teams have something to play for vs those who don’t.

Teams that are already gaurenteed to go up or have secured their place in the playoffs have much less to fight for than 24th/23rd/22nd if they’re scrapping for their lives still.

I said a few weeks ago that I couldn’t see FGR or Sutton getting to 35 points and that’s why I thought we’d stay as we have that shock result in us and we now only need 6 points from 17 games to get to 35. After seeing them fixtures I still think 35 would be enough.

My guess is:

FGR will finish on 31
Sutton will finish on 29

Just looked at the rest of our fixtures aswell and think we will finish on at least 44 points.

Unbelievable to think we are even discussing what's happening at this end of the bottom league in pro football.

Just that thought demonstrates how far we have fallen, and after all the graft and effort we had to put in for years to get us out of situations just like this.

What a waste.

Sutton will go down. Forest Green are the danger out of those two with Cotterill in charge. He will get them organised, ugly and hard to beat. We need to concentrate just on ourselves. Pick the wind up at home, a point away from home, winning a few where we can. We shouldn’t be anywhere near the bottom of the table, but we are because we haven’t got enough results.

We are either decent or very bad. We need first to become hard to beat. We need to control games. When you look at Miller missing, I think he would have scored goals in a functioning side. We need that player in midfield that controls everything. Without that you get result’s like we’ve had. We haven’t had a regular backline that hasn’t helped. Beyond all that even with those problems, it’s a disgrace we are where are. How far we have fallen in such a short space of time.

Our problem has been creating goal scoring opportunities, we need to worry about ourselves rather than worrying what others are doing or might do
