I know you shouldn’t get too excited by highlights but he looks really, really good.

looking at the highlights reel, some of his defence splitting passes were sublime..

I think we’ve found one here by the way. Really impressive the more I look. Direct, great dribbler, can win it back, good crosser, 0.4 xG + xA/90 in L1 which is great. Feels like a perfect GM winger.

Now, I don't know whether the stats on Transfermarket are accurate, but it says last season he scored 7 goals and 3 assists. On face value, 3 assists for a 'winger' seems quite poor (albeit Carlisle were struggling)

I welcome him and trust McCann's judgement but, if he's to help us get promoted, we need a better return than that, don't you think?

That's why Expected Assists is good, he could be putting balls on plates for easy tap ins but if the strikers aren't putting them away then of course his assist numbers wont look great, and his xA will outweigh his Assists, which is Gibson's case.

It's smarter to sign the player who has xA of 8 with 4 assists than the player with xA of 4 with 9 assists, the latter may have had a better finisher in front of him.

What's this stuff about his dad liking a five knuckle shuffle?

Is his dad Ronnie Robinson?

Better than Haks defensively ?

A lot.

His xA was 0.16/ 90 and actually assists 0.11 /90.

He was playing in a relegated side as well.

Him and Owen Moxon were their best players.

His previous two seasons in L2 were also good. Very creative. Assist and key pass master.

Very aggressive in the press too. McCann will be happy.

Yes he does look an exciting signing ATR experienced and a good player from the looks of it.
Another two or three like the first two signings in the right positions and we can look forward to being in the mix next season.
One thing in our favour over the last few seasons is the manager has a clear view of how he wants us to play, and for the first time has the time to put together players to suit his style of play, with a nucleus from last season still here and new players of the right style, and hopefully match his ambition.
  Exciting times ahead I hope.

Yes I agree we do, but Carlisle only scored 41 goals last year, with 7 goals and 3 assists he was directly involved in 25% of them, a point GM made during his interview. We scored 73 in the normal league games so if he keeps the same % up he would be at 18 goals/assists which I think we would all be happy at?

Read a lot about bad attitude and going out on piss, not pulling his weight. I am not concerned about any of it. If GM sees that he will be off.

From his stats in a poor team and the highlights reel (easy to show good bits) from league above I would say he looks a very good signing and DRFC showing real intent again. Seeing some of the crosses he puts in looks perfect for Joe and throygh balls for Miller aswell. The first two signings look really positive.

I would love for Moly/Haks to sign would be an unstoppable attack IMO. Imagine bringing this lad and Hurst on after Moly/Haks hard tired em out......and/or vice versa!

Exciting times.

Remember we want two players for each position so we've now got two wingers signed up and Sbarra who can play there.  Even if the other two sign there's room for all 4.

This one on paper as gazlaz says is good value Vs his stats.  He's an upgrade on the Barlow, seaman, sotona types for sure.

Best permanent signing on historical form since Tommy Rowe mk1. Maybe Jon Taylor actually. Either way, better than we are used to.

”……..better than we are used to.”

That’s an unnecessary ‘slap in the face’ for Ironside, Bailey & Sterry.

This lad is proven at a higher level. Bailey and Sterry were not.

No idea what this issue with his dad is. The only thing I can see is that fans of previous clubs have said he’s had a bad attitude. Hopefully he’s grown up or Grant can manage him.

Sounds like Bradford fans don’t like his dad? Can’t find anything that says why they don’t though?

Also reading the Carlisle forum, Gibson was fined and taken out of the matchday squad towards the end of the season as he was out drinking 36 hours before a game. Did he already know he was coming here and didn’t really care? Hopefully McCann can keep him involved and interested, to keep him out of similar situations with us.

If McCann could get the best out of Mallik Wilks when he had the court case hanging over him I'm confident that whatever issues Gibson has had will be managed effectively.

The Copps mindset coaching could be valuable too.

I was asking a City fan in the gym in Bradford about him this morning. He said that he was a good exciting player. He said that he used to wind away fans up which was funny. It didn’t go down well when he scored for Carlisle against City though and he put his hand to his ear at City fans.

Not entirely true IDM, remember Niall Mason.

I am not saying we will have problems, Jordan is older now and I am sure Grant and others at the club will manage him well and give support if and whenever necessary - we are a renowned family club after all.

Just politely disagreeing with your blanket statement, IMHO extreme off field events can have consequences.

That's right, Drover. However, it can be more detectable with smaller crowds. I remember once when Billy Whitehurst was playing for Mossley against Frickley. One of the Frickley fans shouted "You dirty b*st*rd, Whitehurst". Billy walked up to the crowd and pointed him out, saying "I'll see you after the game".

When the final whistle blew, I've never seen anyone shift to the exits as quick as that gobshite from the crowd.

Fair point..

Perhaps I should have said who cares what his dad does.  I agree there are things we cannot accept players doing.
