Jesus its getting worse, Mark Wilson!!!!

The same Mark Wilson who Oxford released, couldn't get a club in Australia, released by Gainsborough to try and find a club in China (but couldn't) then deemed two weeks ago not good enough for Harrogate Towns first 11. But hold on Brian Flynn's got a plan.....

Surely there are better options out there?

Jeez this is a depressing thread now Willo as manager I might go for. However Willo was always able to do the basic work required of him in midfield..........'Pointer' can't!

Rather have Mark Wilson in the team than James Harper

I'd rather die by lethal injection than by drowning, but.....

The same Mark Wilson who had to replace Wellens in midfield in 2009/10, the same season stock spent most of the season out with his back and the same season we finished in our highest ever position in over 100 years.

Not the greatest technical footballer I grant you but I think the criticism poured on him then and even now was over the top

His age is against him but as an unspectacular doer of he basics I'd far rather have Mark Wilson than that Pointing thing.

I had no problem with Wilson in 2009, like you said not the greatest technical player and did a job when asked. But...that was then, the fact he can't/hasn't had a club of any note since worries me. I just can't believe there isn't better options out there.

Hope I'm wrong.

Sorry but Wilson is shocking. What on earth are you all on saying you'd have him in the team... I wouldn't have him in the team if we were a non league side!

Of course if it happens it sounds very much a cheap option but does have the advantage of bringing in a player who is aware of who we are and how we play. If anything our current style probably would be more suitable for him than it was before. Btw I am NOT a Willo hater (that much is obvious)......I recognised what a good job he did before for us .
If you're not sure ask BST to drag out the stats of our win % with him playing in the team........yes we won far more often surprisingly.

Somebody knows somebody who knows somebody who knows Mark Wilson is a better player than pointer Harper.  Prefer him to Griffin and who knows he could be plan B for next season as manager. :rtid:

Griffin was tremendous in midfield for that half game he played there.

I remember folk having a go at Keegan for being unspectacular, now the same folk are bemoaning his absence. Willo will do what he`s always done, break up play, play the simple pass and compliment the baller in midfield i.e. Lundstram. I`m sure there are better options out there, I`m also sure our current midfield set up compliments Willo`s game better than the highly intricate midfield of Stock and Wellens, Willo was never going to replace those two like for like, but if you`re asking him to replace Keegan then I think we have a close match, if his legs can last 90 minutes.

And James Harper was signed by Hungerford town just before we got him.

And James Harper was signed by Hungerford town just before we got him.

That doesn't justify it in any way whatsoever, given how shite Harper is.

Your choice appears to be simple.  Harper or Wilson?  I know which one I prefer and he could have played for Gainsborough School for all I care. :rtid:

I thinks we should sign Mark Wilson - give Gary Woods a break from being the scapegoat for all the clubs ills

Would have Wilson over Harper any day of the week not that I'm saying Wilson is the answer.  Come to think of it I know a young woman who used to play Crystal palace ladies youth who would most definitely done better and at least it would give us some media attention. :rtid:

Just listened to BF's interview on player and yes it seems Wilson hasn't yet been castaway from Rovers. Now I'm all in favour of him being around the squad and nurturing the youngsters etc. and even maybe worth a place on the bench in case of catastrophes, but not a starting place please no.

Worst case scenario for me is Wilson and Harper starting a game together. I just wouldn't be able to watch I'm afraid, I  know that's bad but I have to watch my blood pressure.
