Not too disapointed

We more than matched another premiership team, the only difference today was as always we didn't take our chances, west brom did! If we could find a ruthless streak and be more clinical in front of goal we would be a top 6 side! And please please please SOD extend John Oster's contract

Yep have to agree with that. Silly mistakes (that happen)and chances not taken.
But we are nearly a very, very good side.

Enjoyed todays game, worth a point without a doubt. Martis and Oster were good, Heffs looked ok.

There 1st goal got me thinking.

How many goals have we scored direct from a freekick this season? And is there a stat table anywhere showing how many points each team has won as a result of a direct free kick goal?

We had two similar free kicks before that and one after and didn't even trouble the keeper, thats what makes the difference at this level

Thats what I mean, margins are so fine in football. We make things hard for ourselves with our inability to do anything from them.

No I thought we more than matched them today.

But for Chambers having an absolute stinker - surely to blame for WBA's second and thir goal, the result could well have been a different story. Im also very dubious that the freekick that West Brom scored for their first, should have been given at all.

I didn't think it was a free kick, and we had a good shout for a penalty towards the end.
Played well though and deserved at least a point.

chambers was obviously at fault for their second, but i wouldnt say he had a stinker, just my opinion though of course.

i too think the first wasnt a free kick, but as soon as the whistle went i turned to my other half and said \"this is 1-0\" :(

Thought Chambers had a mare to be honest.  Overall though we did well.  Couple of observations.  Fairhurst created a lot of space and we looked better with his movement.  Heff did ok, but Waide's pace worried them more.  Heffs is not good enough against top sides IMO, but he gave his all, off the ball he hasn't got the qualities of others though.

Thought we were better with Lockwood/Martis at centre back.  Jimmy should move back to right back, I just think we're stronger there with him there and two big centre backs.

Overall, not many complaints, we just need to stop the silly mistakes.  Even Mutch who I do not rate much had a decent game, simple he was but he did ok.  Thought JET did fairly well too, great cross for the second goal and great head from Hayter.

I AM disappointed

...again we reflect that we COULD have got something from a game rather than GETTING something from a game.

I dont for a minute think that was a free kick and as with the Suoerspy I advised my mate that this was Leeds all over again i.e NOT a foul and 1NS would not get near it. Hate to be right again though

I thought 6JC was ok today apart from the errors which I suppose is like saying well my Horse was ok in the National but it fell - but I think you will know what I mean

Nobody will be sicker than him - as being an ex Wolves ST holder he would be gutted to give them the 2 goals to take them up (inevitable as it was that they would do it)

We must look at potential chances again and Martis would probably have been desperate to score againt his ex Buddies and another foot either way and we are 1-1 .... instead they come up JC makes an error and 0-2 goes on the scoreboard. We kick off and the ball travels 4 feet and the whistle goes - in other words Martis heads over or forces Carson to save at full stretch even and we go in 0-1

Yes I am DISAPPOINTED - and unfortunately could not help singing (by myself of course ) Down with the Wigan your're going down with the Wigan in readiness for next Season for them

Agreed. We were by far the better team today. The difference was they had the better players. Individually and in split second moments we have been hurt by moments of class many times during the season from 15k/week players.

We cannot compete individually with the rest of this league, but as a team we are right up there imo. It's good to see we have JET (cannot understand the negativity towards this lad) and Billy, that can give DRFC a bit of that individual magic, rather than relying on a brilliant passing sequence or wonder strike to break a team down (as these are not going to happen 3-4 times in a game).

Today was a prime example of the above.

I was looking at the clock as I realised Sulli had not even touched the ball (apart from, I think 1 un-opposed pass out to the defenders). He touched the ball in anger on 30mins and that was to pick the ball up from the net. Never a free kick in 10,000,000 years.

The second was another mistake where we paid the ultimate price.

Wasn't the third another mistake?

The better team lost, the classier players won.

Oster is really on his game in the centre, but Martis (who comes in for some stick) just shaded it, he was exemplary today, solid, calm and collected. My MoM

Totally agree Rigo, one of the best games of football I've ever watched Rovers play. I was and am well proud of them today.

I didn't see the second goal so can't comment on that, but Chambers certainly did okay for me today.

When you see replays of the second goal you will see that Chambers is the one totally at fault for that one as well.

So he was at fault for two of the goals we conceded today.....but, other than that, he had a good game.

I hope for the next game we have a back four of JOC Martis Locky and Roberts.
with maybe Chambers in midfield.
Oh and please start with Fairhurst up front. The lad adds so much to the team with his running and enthusiasm

For me, Chambers hasn't been at his best for a few weeks. He's only missed one game so maybe he's carrying a knock or just feeling the effects of a long season. I'd like to see him rested and either Hird or Lockwood in central defence next week.

SO'D gets stick over his subs but for me they were spot on. Fairhurst gave the attack more energy and Shiels looked like he might have been reading some of the comments on here- he was lively and his movement was excellent. Also a word for Mutch, who I thought did very well first half although he faded a bit in the second half.

Martis was much, much better than he was against Plymouth. In fact that goes for the whole team. If we'd played like that against Plymouth, we'd have slaughtered them.

Got to go along with that, same story as the Newcastle game. It took great teamwork and attitude for the likes of Hull & Stoke to stay up, and whilst its only based on a few games, I'd say Newcastle and WBA don't have that at all and can't just rely on moments of magic to get them 40 points.

I'm proud of how we are progressing and how SOD turns good players into a very good team. Not going to get too carried away for next season just yet though, its a big summer ahead in terms of signings/renewals/improvements.

I thought that it was a fantastic advert for championship football. I don't think we desrved to lose but they had the players to punish us with our assistance. Our lasses son-in-law (a Leeds fan) came with me for the second time this season and he loves the way we play. He just wishes Leeds could be anything like it.
A baggies fan outside after the game said that we were the best footballing side at the Hawthorns this season. I went there and like today we deserved something that night too.
A shame about the result but I feel lucky to be a Rovers fan. Roll on Ipswich a week-end away and another ground off my list.     :cheer:

I thought we were excellent yesterday, no complaints about the way we played at all. For the majority of the first half, we had them penned in, and had we been more clinical in front of goal, we may have taken the lead. By my reckoning, the free kick incident from which they scored was only their 2nd or 3rd attack in the whole 30 minutes of play. Second half we continued in very much the same manner, playing some superb football and putting WBA on the back foot. If we had not shot ourselves in the foot and made the silly errors that we did at the back (notably Chambers) then we would have undoubtedly finished the game with at least a point.

Can't grumble at yesterdays showing at all. WBA had a lot of attacking quality, and the fact that it took 2 mistakes from us for them to win the game really shows that we kept their chances to a premium by playing the majority of the game on the front foot. I dare say had we been playing any other team in the division than West Brom, we would have won the game comfortably with that display.

Aaaaah, but once in the Prem, their CCC class players that have strolled the CCC, are not so classy in the Premiership (as already proved).
