Out of contract at Leyton Orient.

Decent defender that SOD and ROK have shown an interest in before. ROK worked with him at Hereford.

We are goner have too accept players like Mkandawire,Kennedy and otsemobor etc are the level of players we are going to have a realistic chance of signing,Players of Shackell and ward Level are likely to be out our wage range unless on loan.Looking round the forums Mkandawire is well respected with fans from clubs like Millwall and Leeds among others being admirers.Maybe he is an Hard nut defender?  :)

Whenever I've seen him play I've been of the opinion that he is too small in stature, although he does have good pace. Simon Lindsay may be able to shed more light having watched Orient a few times.

I have no problem at all with the concept of us picking up talented players from Leagues One and Two (it surprised me that we decided not to invest in these kind of players last summer - preferring to use the loan market to plug gaps).

Regarding the centre half situation specifically, I would go back to the Forest game at home when we briefly saw Martis and Shackell together at the back, and SO'D stated it was the strongest we'd looked in that position for some time. I think he has looked at this league and decided (correctly in my opinion) that our chances are best served with two tall players at the back to deal with the physical threat we come up against in most games. Hence we have been looking at players of the stature of Shackell and Ward to partner Martis. These two have proved beyond our reach, but I hope we continue to look at dominant central defenders, albeit perhaps lower down the pyramid.

Tamika Mkandawire?

Isn't that Dutch for Michael Macindoe?

There is already a thread for that.

Iv touted Mr Mkandwire a few times on here, always been impressed with him when i have seen him play and was always a stand out player in a pretty poor LO team.
Although he is only about 5' 9''he has a great leap and is pretty brave, good with the ball and likes to dribble out of the defence and is quick, and chips in with a few goals.

He is still shall we say 'raw' and with the SOD touch i would say he would be a pretty good signing, i know he is on about £3k a week at LO so should be in the DRFC wage budget.
