Losing the \"underdog\" tag?
« on August 05, 2010, 03:56:25 pm by NickDRFC »
Just been googling \"Championship season preview\" and there are one or two interesting reads on there. Lines such as \"Doncaster will again be strong\" and \"Sean O'Driscoll will be confident of pushing for the top ten\". Are we losing our tag of being small fry, just a pub team having a laugh? Is there a danger of us starting to believe the hype and the wheels falling off?

I am personally pretty optimistic for the season ahead, but I wouldn't dare tell anyone that in case I jinx it!

I think its great that people not attached to the club are started make positive comments about us and its great to see that we havent been tipped for the drop as usual just because were little donny rovers that used to be in the conference. Having said that i do worry that the team could start to feel the pressure from our own fans if the optimism being shown starts to turn into expectation. I agree that another season of safe mid-table safety would be perfectly acceptable. If we do get to the play-offs then thats fantastic but if we dont then thats fine by me. We need to make sure we remember that there are still a lot of teams with far bigger crowds and far bigger budgets than ours.
