Defender or Striker?
« on November 02, 2010, 05:50:26 pm by StocksArmy »
Personally for me it has to be a striker, Although I am sick to the back teeth of watching our defenders fail to (a) Stop balls coming in to our box and (b) Defend well when it does. However we have Thomas and Chambers who have played part in a friendly against Hull today, So they could be ready to start in the game at Pompey. As i said a striker is the top of my list as we need to score goals and as much as I rate him I personally don't think Hayter will be our saviour while Billy is out.

For me, I think Thomas will come good and that will help shore things up. Mustapha has got to learn some composure and start defending, then with a back line of Dumbaya, Thomas, O'Connor, Mills, I think we'll do ok. Perhaps interchange Chambers for Dumbaya, but it's pretty much a decent defence I think. Martis is just unable to play at this level. Next time you watch when he's playing and listen for the crowds reaction when he gets the ball...it's usually a sound of someone knowing they are going to drop a plate on the floor.

We obviously put all our eggs in one basket with Sharp, and we really don't have anyone to like for like replace him with. So...in answer to your question, for me, I'd get a decent striker unless we get Thomas or J O'C injured.

Yeah I agree there mate. I noticed that on Saturday to be honest, I said a few month back on here that hes just not good enough and got slated to which my reply was I hope he proves me wrong and comes good and he just hasn't, so I will say it again, he's simply not good enough.

Rock-solid, pacey, game-reading centre-back.  Ergo, DEFENDER.

For me we want a big bugger of a centre half who's strong point is his heading ability. Then he can pop up for corners and stick his head on the loose balls that went across to nobody previous to his signing.
That way we'd have the best of both scenarios.

errrrr How many goals have we scored this season? How many goals has Billy scored?
This is in no way knocking Billy but if we score 3 goals away from home and lose then it is plainly obvious where the problem lies.
We have other players scoring goals we aren't just a one man team when it comes to goals.
Its obvious where the problem lies. Just look at the goals against column.

I've heard that David Healy will sign a season long loan tomorrow.
