FLJ of the Week Award
« on October 24, 2010, 11:15:20 pm by BillyStubbsTears »
Won hands down by some anonymous  FLJ at the Sunday Times.

Now I fully appreciate that some FLJs may not bother to attend matches and take the info from the PA reports and stats. But to come up with THIS when the match had been live on telly and a fair few folk might actually have seen it for themsens...

Quote
Sheffield United  trudged off the field at the interval wondering how on earth it was possible that they found themselves 2-0 down at Doncaster. Despite having had more than 70% of the possession in the first half, they were unable to turn their superiority into goals.
Early in the second half, Sheffield United continued to dominate but they still couldn't find a way through. Gradually the home side began to look more comfortable and they held out for all three points.

Beat that.

To be fair to him, I assume it was some idle scrote making up a report from the PA stats. Said stats at half time had the possession figures 73-27 in favour of the Blades. I shit you not.

Yorkshire Sport has us on it's front page yesterday, under the title 'SHARP SHOW' and the opening paragraph said:

\"Sean O'Driscoll admitted the joke was on him when goalscorer Billy Sharp revealed the words 'Fat Lad from Sheffield' on his undershirt during Doncaster's 2-1 win over Sheffield United.

They are all bloody priceless, sloppy and idle! :)

And to think. George Osbourne failed as a journalist before becoming a politician...

Whilst the Australian papers enter the running for gullible journalist awards:

Quote
Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler, now playing for Perth Glory in Australia, got one over on the Aussie press this week when he told journalists his recent break back in England was actually an attempt to convince Wayne Rooney to join him down under. Perth boss Ian Ferguson said: \"I'm actually gobsmacked this joke ran as far as it did.\"
