Billy
« on November 09, 2010, 12:25:52 am by Superspy »
I didn't see anybody else mention this, but another follow up on Billys injury...

SOD says billy was running at 80% today

\"there or there abouts next week\" were his words. he was asked if he could be utilised from the bench, to which SOD replied something along the lines of, \"i'd rather use him for the first 20 and take him off...cold weather....getting it warmed up all afternoon etc\". he could be back very soon but SOD says he trusts the physio so what he says goes.

Crikey Charlie.........a choice of Sharp, Healy, Brooker and Hayter is on the near horizon.

How about chucking all 4 on, when we are chasing the game........I'm getting a little lazy on, thinking about that. It could be feasable soon

to be honest, theres only one thing that seems to be sticking my mind at the minute since the slight extension of Healys loan, and that is Sharp, Healy, Hayter VS Barnsley.

Mind games for the sake of the opposition. Let them think Billy is coming back and then sort their tactics accordingly. Team sheets in, no Billy=a waste of a week on the training ground.

Just said on Radio Sheff, Billy should be available by the end of the week.

Id rest him this weekend, give Healy chance to gel, and hopefully have them both firing on all cylinders together.

Might have to change my pants when they get on the pitch together

I'm changing mine right now Keith, that's some attack force and will give the Dingles plenty to think about.        :scarf:

well, after listening to SODs pre-portsmouth interview, he says billy is now sprinting, changing direction, and is back playing with the ball at his feet again.

he has penciled himself in for a return next week and at this point, and i quote SOD here \"you wouldn't bet against it\"

A friend of mine spoke to him at the gym this morning and he's having a scan on Monday, with a view to get the go ahead to resume full training. He said he'll be back for next Saturday.

I find it amazing that he can suffer an injury like he did and recover so fast, the guy loves playing football. It just makes him more of a legend in my eyes

Legend? No I don't think so, he hasn't achieved anything here just yet.

Cult hero? Definatly, he's up there with Pricey, Heffs and Brabin etc.

Agree with you there Nudga, we do have legend playing for us in James Hayter. It's a shame he doesn't always get that recognition.

Agree re: Hayts. Legend. Model pro. Great attitude. Hope he stays for the rest of his career. And bags his share of goals....

The photo of Hayter after he scored at Wembley is on my bedroom wall, along with a good one of Belle Vue. Hayter has to be written into the Rovers folklore as much as Sir Francis, one started the promise by JR, one completed it. The thing is that Hayter could take it beyond JR's original promise if we are lucky!

Hayter has matured superbly in this division. In the first few months of the first season at this level, he looked well out of his depth, and his lak of incision (along with all the other strikers we tried) was a major reason why we floundered so badly over that first few months. wih hindsight, the turning point of the season was his injury, because it meant that O'Driscoll really had no option but to chuck Heffernan in, with the outcome that we all know.

But since he came back from that injury, hayter has got better and better. His strength and energy levels look 20% higher than two years ago - he is regularly winning physical duels with defenders and also looks far more dangerous in the box. Since he came back from that injury, he has scored 17 goals in 42 league starts which is an excellent performance from someone whose job is primarily putting a shift in out wide or as a link man, rather than an out and out striker.

To put it in perspective, taking penalties out of the equation, Sharp has scored 16 goals in 45 league starts for us.

Two years ago, I thought he had no future in this division, but now he's one of the first names on the teamsheet
