Compo to be sorted for SO'D
« on December 17, 2010, 02:38:37 pm by DMnumber4 »
by Sheffield United is what I've been told. Talks have begun between the clubs and the deal will go through if we accept their offer and Sean agrees terms.

You heard it here first.

Maybe that's why SO'D was said to sound happy on the radio earlier. In my own situation, if someone offered me a new job at the moment I'd be happy as a dog with two d*cks.

I hope it's wrong though, but it will be interesting to see how he reacts tonight.

Havent listened to YR Skellow, my source is neutral. I am not claiming to be ITK and would take little delight in SO'D leaving.

I still don't think he will go!

My mate is a big Blades fan who is well connected there. He actually got us a bit of work aswell with SUFC.
He seems to think it's a done deal and it is just down to SOD to accept terms.

Who knows but i'm very woried that tonight could be our last game under probably the greatest manager in our history.

I'm sure I'll end up looking stupid for saying this, but knowing how professional S'oD is; today will be concentrating on match day.

I can't imagine any talks taking place today; and no announcement being made.

Don't forget S'oD loves toying with the Press.
When they ask daft questions, they never get a cliched response.....
That's maybe why he's left things open-ended.

IF and its a big IF, SOD does leave to go to SUFC then i would feel its a backwards step in his managerial career. Leaving a club that on its day can beat anyone in this league, a club that has one of the most clued up chairman and a club that isn't in millions of debt would be a strange chioce.......However:

Does SOD feel he has took DRFC as far as he can based on the budget/financial limitation, does he fancy a crack at getting SUFC back in the PL, or has he been offered a deal that 'he cant refuse'.

Until any sort of deal is done then i wouldn't speculate on anything other than SOD wanting to get 3 points tonight against a 'Boro team on the up.

He would have more or less the same financial limitations at Sheff Utd, he must be mad if he goes there, there`s far better vacancies that will become available in the coming months than this one, mind Praise or Grumble might be interesting in a month or so if he does go  :)

To be honest, I'd be more angry/bitter then depressed if SOD left for Blades. Now don't get me wrong, I would feel bad, what he's done with this club speaks for it's self one of our best, if not the best manager we've had, but come one he had to leave eventually. I'd just be bitter/angry that he went to our local rivals in Sheffield United.

He got us all this way, with still more to do I feel with the right defence, just to leave and go to our rivals? Just not something I'd be very happy about!

How much is enough for Sean? He is the most vital cog in the drfc machine, more valuable than any player! 2-3million? Far too cheap!
Why go? A club in decline, with a chairman that wants out and financially crippled, well I suppose they have 10k more fans ( on a good day) they have an academy( woooo )
If they go down or do not win enough games, Sean would be out on his arse!
Time for Sean to realise what he has in drfc and John Ryan, a secure job until the RIGHT job comes along.
He is gaining high praise in all the right places, but one bad career choice ( sufc and their flakey chairman) and he becomes one of the nearly men. Your choice Sean.

We're hardly bitter enemies with Sheffield United. At the end of the day, nobody on here can say for certain that this is a backwards career move for Sean if he decides to take it. Sheffield United are a 'bigger' club, whatever that really means, and they have Premier League potential. It just depends if McCabe is willing to give SOD the time to turn that club around.

If he does go, he goes with my sincerest good wishes and I hope he would do a good job there. I have the utmost faith in John Ryan to find a suitable replacement who will keep the 'proper football' philosophy at this club.

I've no issue with any player or coach going if we get the right money.  If players were completely loyal we wouldn't have any of our players as none of them really had an affinity when they joined.  Certainly SOD and the likes of Hayter wouldn't have left Bournemouth so it goes both ways.

If they meet a fair valuation then I'm pretty happy with that, we can't expect anything more.
