Coach to Derby
« on March 02, 2011, 08:34:22 pm by DonnyRTID »
I apologise in advance if this post causes upset to anyone on this forum, this is not the intention.

Just before we set off to Derby, 2  young lasses got on the coach (first timers), there was only 2 seats left, 1 on the back seat in the middle of the young chavs and the other  next to a rather large fella, after deliberating they took their respective seats, now I don’t know how the young lass at the back got on but the one sat on the inside seat next to the big man had a bit of a rough ride, he was sat on half  her seat as well as his own (she was nearly out the window) but then to make matters worse he started to read his paper,  the way he was holding it though meant she had no choice but to read it  too, add to that at every turn of the page he nearly took her eye out.
This went on for most of the journey and I felt so sorry for her  that i asked if she wanted to squeeze between us, she declined of course.
You had to see it to appreciate the funny side, was just like watching an episode of Mr Bean.

christ i recall the coach i went onto everton for the facup game during the miners strike.

i was a younger element of donny lads back then 17 year old and basically followed rovers with the misters that drank
in the saracens head pub.

pub open very early in the morning for the lads so i was more than half pissed when i got onto the coach.
the coach picked the saracens group up outside ward brothers as all oaches did back then,so on way to our coach i followed the saracens misters into the super market to buy some ale.

not been a big drinker back then just a larger lout is fair to say and all the saracens lot were getting cans of this and that along with gin, vodka, whisky bottles of.so like a sheep i got a bottle of strongbow and a gordons gin bottle of one of.

a coach normally holds 53 but this coach had far more than 53 as it was in some cases two to a seat and bums
sat all along the coach floor, you could not move on it as it was rammed, police today would have pull it over
straight away but not back then.

you could smoke on public transport back then and all you could smell was fags, ale and the smell of dope that
was been comsumed by more than half the coach.i to this day have never smoked or took drugs of any sort, but on this day i must have been 'passive doping'

i necked me strongbow before bus got out of yorkshire, then it was onto me bottle of gordons gin.like i said i was a larger drinker and never never gone for owt on the optic shelf in me life.i still recall the smell of the gin when i cracked open the bottle top to this day and it still makes me gip.

slowly but surely i had necked the full bottle of gin neat and this was well before the bus pulled over into the service station where mersyside police were meeting all doncaster coaches to escort them to goodison.that gin
tasted fowl but i paid £7 for so i was drinking it all, after the gin i was on a plastic for pint bottle of bitter
and i hate bitter, you can say i was wrecked.

the bus was bouncing all the way to the service station with facup atmosphere.by time we got to service station
i could not get up out of me seat,i was just sat there with my sainsburys bag wide open to my mouth as a spwed
my ring up again and again and again into me shopping bag.

when we got to stanley park i was carry off the bus and left to slumber against a tree, this is where rovers fans were all having running battles with the police, police getting dragged off cop bikes and mounted police were getting attacked to along with the police on foot,it was what we all have been involved in during the week with
the miners strike replayed on stanley park liverpool.

i was in a rite mess as a policeman came upto us and i just threw me guts up on the floor,i was put into back of
ambulance and rushed to liverpool infirmary.i came round at whatever time and nurse told me that they had to give me a stomach pump,i did not feal good at all.

i was informed that doncaster had lost and the coach that i was on would be dropping by the infirmary to pick us up as and when.when that coach left doncaster the head count was 80+,when it picked me up the head count was
17,the rest had all been arrested and were all still been detained.

what have i learnt from that day,to this day i have never touched any top shelf/optic drinks what so ever as that gin as put me off for life, just larger and cider for me.i have worked in bars since i was 18 and still today
when i have to replace an empty gin bottle on the optics i crack open the bottle top and the smell of the gin
still makes me gip and i have flash backs to my day at everton v doncaster and more important the saracens pub donny.

Oslo, I too remember that trip to Everton, I think the coach companies had got every last bus from miles around. There were some that were so old that they could barely make it up the hills on the M62.

Top day out, only bettered by Stoke, Cardiff and what was the other one, oh yes, Wembley
