when liverpool were the kings of europe and the english league/cup scene i did not hate liverpool but
was sure happy when likes of man utd/forest were putting spanners into the scouses success.

to see a different team winning was a breath of fresh air.

now today man united have been cock of the roost for last 20+ seasons, but there is a lot of hate from other
fans of teams no matter what league theur team plays in.

suppose the media coverage of football dont help uniteds case, also like already said fans are just'
jellous of man utds success.

how do i feal about united,if i notice they win in CL league it dont bother us fair play to them, but
if they loose in CL league i have a good laugh to me sen, make out of that what yer want.

olde purple nose dont help man utd, when man utd get the wrong result and he allways seems to give the ref
a good ear bashing due to whatever he missed or did not to on the pitch.

saying that wenger at arsenal has his 'i did not see it' which is just as anoying.

Unbelievable comments against the referee tonight, after what happend against Wigan. The red two faced tw@t has outdone himself, a whole new low in the world that is football today

I find it amazing that a club who thought that elbowing somebody in the head was okay 3 days ago, are now moaning about a penalty decision tonight which was probably the correct decision.

You both obviously never saw what happened in the game then, and are clearly against anything United get or do because you can't stand them. The referee made THREE appalling decisions against united tonight. Regardless of what happened on Saturday and regardless of it being United the refereeing in this country is at times disgrace.

What i don't get is fans across the country who clearly can't stand Man United moan at everything they do but can never accept or admit to when they themselves have been clearly cheated. Wayne Rooney should clearly have been punished for what he did on saturday, agreed. But it happens all the time. Terry does it, so has Gerrard, yet when the FA fails to ban them, people think thats acceptable

Ashely Cole takes a loaded harmful weapon to his place of work and shoots a kid a point blank range, and hardly anything is done. But if he was a Manchester United player, he would have been on the front page for months and crucified by the press and football fans up and down england until he was locked up and they threw away the key.

I know I'm going to get a lot of stick on here for sticking up for United but so what, i know its hard for people to accept, but believe it or not, United are at times hard done by as well, its everyones hatred for them which blocks there view of this.

I did watch the game actually, and I don't give a shite about the decisions. But, to me, moaning about a penalty which was probably the correct decision (ok, a bit soft, but most referees would've given it) when three days earlier, your player practically assaulted an opponent off the ball, is a tad hypocritical. I'm not anti-Man United, I couldn't give a shite if they win, lose or draw, but I just don't think that they've got grounds to be whinging and moaning about an unfavourable decision when they've just MASSIVELY got away with one themselves, and in all honesty, probably get away with more than other clubs.

To say one day \"it's practically okay that Wayne Rooney elbowed someone in the head\" and then turn round the next day and say \"referees are a disgrace because they gave a few decisions against us\" just shows what short memories Fergie and the Man Yoo mob have.

WHAT!!! Of course they have got the right to moan about the decisions. They cost them the match!! The FA looked at and reviewed what happened on saturday with Rooney and decided that the referee had dealt with it in play (all be it made the wrong decision mind) and no more action should be taken. Different game and a different scenario what happened last night and what happened on saturday shouldn't even come into it. United losing to poor decisions because people think Rooney was failed to be sent off on saturday does NOT make it right.

And by the way, Sir Alex did at no point say or imply that Rooney's elbow was 'OK'. He has said Rooney was a very lucky boy not to be sent off and only implied that the media would create a frenzy about the whole thing in an attempt to get him banned. `

As taken from the Beeb website:

\"However, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson commented: \"There's nothing in it.\"

The Scot then sought to deflect attention away from the incident and claimed: \"As it is Wayne, the press will raise a campaign to get him hung or electrocuted, something like that.\"

Ferguson's assistant Mike Phelan also played down the incident.

\"We can't dispute the referee's decision,\" he stated. \"He's kept the game flowing and we're happy with that.

\"There should not be a witch-hunt. The referee was consistent with all his decisions. We should lie low a little bit and let the powers that be take [control of] the game.\"

The media have every right to single out Rooney, what he did was a straight red card, and if the elbow was on Rooney himself, of course the referee would have seen more in it.

Fergie: Rooney was fortunate

Ferguson played down the incident after the game at Wigan, but he has admitted Rooney was fortunate to get away with any action being taken against him, while praising Clattenburg for not bowing to pressure to see the forward face action from The FA.

\"Mark Clattenburg dealt with it at the time and he's the only person who comes out of this incident with any credit at all,\" Ferguson told Sky Sports HD2 &2.

\"Wayne Rooney is a bit fortunate - it was a clash and it was a silly thing to do, but it's finished now.\"

Ancelotti could say the same thing about the referee last night ;)

Well he is hardly going to say otherwise is he. His team weren't the ones hard done by through bad officiating. :headbang:

Oslo Rovers and DONNYWOLF are quite right about Liverpool.
During their meteoric success in the late 70s/80s,they were arguably the best team in Europe, possibly the world.
When they did lose you never had Bob Paisley or Joe Fagan ranting on about how the referee had cost them the game or how the whole world was against them. They usually said their piece, conceded that they were beaten by the better team and moved on to the next game.
Yes,I did smile when Wimbledon beat them in the FA cup final and was pleased when Arsenal won the league in that dramatic night at Anfield but only because it made a pleasant change to see another name on the trophy, not some irrational hatred of Liverpool.
Alex Ferguson and his teams have taken t**ttery to a new level. They believe, along with their millions of armchair fans, they have a divine right to win everything and if they don't its \"everyones against us,why do we always get crap refs,etc,etc\"
Theres one man to blame for all of this.
Mark Robins.
If he hadn't got that 3rd round winning goal in 1990 its more than likely Fergie would have got the sack and Manure would still just be a team that won the FA cup every 4 years or so and referees would be able to give penalties at Old Trafford without fear of recrimination.

If you have ever seen Man Utd play live. Not watched from an armchair, one things sums them up and that is what their fans sing.
\"We're Man Utd and we do what we want\"
Never has a saying been so true.
Old red nose never does an interview with the BBC breaking premiership rules but gets away with it.
Old red nose moans and abuses referees and gets away with it.
Need I say more?

1. Just to clear one thing up. I have seen united play live, I go quite often in fact, if you'd actually bothered to read the earlier posts on this topic you'd know that, so can we stop it with the armchair supporter remarks.

2, Its just a song, created for the purposes of every other fan in the land that calls united cheats and think they get all the decisions.

3. Weather Fergie does or doesn't talk to the BBC has nothing to do with the team on the pitch at all and nothing to do with football. Its a personal problem he has with them. The only implications it would have would be for Fergie.
BBC Ruling Fergie

4. Plenty of managers abuse referees and get away with it. Mourinho, warnock, Benitez, Wenger etc
