It wouldn't be a great surprise, they tend to cherry pick one of ours every summer just hope they don't manage it in this case.

I know they're planning on a lot of strengthening down there, the chairman's offered a deal for the ST's where if anyone's not happy with the players they bring in they'll refund them their dough.

Quite believable I think, with the wages they pay. At least they can't pinch him on a FREE like they did Greeny

Would Copps do that to us? I realise it's a career, and I know he's easily good enough but would he go to Derby, who are doing marginally better than us without the excuse of a massive injury list on the scale of ours?

Didn't Copps say that when he signed his extension it was beacuse his wife and kids are settled in Donny?

I dont think he will Leave. I see him getting his testimonial and possibly ending his career here.

Copps loves it here, I'd be very surprised if he left for Derby, they're worse than us and won't improve much under Clough.  If a top of the league team came in then maybe, but not Derby.

Big crowds, big (good) stadium, history, (big club)more money.
errrr of course he would prefer to stay at Rovers.

I think I'd say that Copps is our most loyal player to be honest. I can still remember him as a long-haired youngster at Belle Vue, he seems to be growing with the club

Doubt it, why would he want to drop a league!

Not everything to some players though is it? I'd like to think Copps would have the brains to realise that Derby are no better than us. And if he was to move it would be to maybe get a shot at the premiership rather than jumping ship because Derby offer stupid wages for a season of disappointment under an awful manager.

Funny that... I heard from my nephew in Derby that they were willing to offer up to £2 million for Copps and £5 million for Billy . I do honestly think that at £7 million we should consider the bid!

I'm not to sure about this one, his missus works at DRI and is settled with their two kids. Plus, they are looking at buying/building a house in his native North East. If anything, I could see him go to Middlesbro' or see out his best days here and then have a kick about with Darlo or Hartlepool in his veteran years.

If he's still in contact with Gareth Roberts and Greeny he will also know that the fans there can be fickle.I know our fans can too but sometimes better the devil you know.:scarf:

Of all the players i've ever seen play for Rovers. He has to be the most exciting and skillfull, technical player i've ever seen play for Rovers. Hope we doo all we can to keep him.

And probably one of the most frustrating as he doesn't do his stuff often enough. A player of his skill should be able to grab a game by the scruff of the neck and run the bloody show a lot more than what he does. My opinion only of course.

Not convinced on this. I did hear late last season, from a reliable source, that Copps was on his way to Derby or Barnsley and Gaz Roberts on his way to Derby- I obviously began to fear the worst when Roberts departed.
However, Copps has subsequently signed a new contract, which he didn't need to, and signalled his intent to stay. Nothing is certain and better money and prospects could always tempt a player( and who could blame them) but at least he can't walk away for nothing.
Let's not forget that if Rotherham could have stumped up circa 30 grand he'd have been gone some years ago.

We need to get more matches on TV, Copps always seems to turn it on more when cameras are in town... IMO

Derby`s remaining fixtures are tough they may well not gain another point, don`t think Copps would fancy dropping to league 1, on the other hand we are still behind Derby so he may well be contracted to a league 1 side anyway

Derby`s remaining fixtures

Leeds (H)
QPR (A)
Burnley (H)
Norwich (A)
Bristol City (H)
Reading (A)

tell me where they are going to get another point from

Bristol City and Burnley at home easily, burnley are on a poor run off of form and i don't honestly see Bristol City having anything to play for at that stage.

...........and maybe Reading, if they are already sorted in the play-offs. One wouldn't expect Reading to run their knackers off, risk injuries etc etc with the play off games immediately after the end of the season and the lure of the filthy lucre. Esp when the opposition is coming at you 110% fighting for survival.

Derby have surprised me this season, as I have to say they looked pretty darn strong and capable at our place, and I really had them as a top 6 side. I don't think it's just the departure of Commons, some say they are forever chopping and changing and not keeping a settled side?

The big IF reagarding Copps or any other player leaving is IF we are still in the Championship next season. I could see several players on their way JO'C Copps Sharp possibly Muzzy to name 4.
IF we are still in the Championship I can see several others leaving, perhaps not voluntarily

There's a ying and a yang for everything, as I cannot see any player wanting to leave before we resume Championship footy next season.

I can see some being told they have no future and leaving.

Maybe, if the offer is ridiculously high, I can see a player(s) being told they need to go for the good of the club and it's long term survival.

.....but I cannot see any wanting to go.

As an aside, I may be wrong, but under Sean as any player actually handed a transfer request in or actively sought to move away from the club. I cannot think of one. Worth bearing that in mind actually as it tells a few tales.

i don't know what the hell has gone off with derby this season either, that being said i took a slightly more rose tinted view on the game at our place, because while they did look very good and moved the ball around really well, i honestly think that if we didn't have the defensive injuries that we had at the time, we would have beaten them. all that accounted for, i dunno what happened to change them from a team that didn't know how to lose, into a team that didn't know how to win virtually overnight.

i think the same, if we're in the championship i can't see anybody actually wanting to leave, but a few will probably be let go.

Coops is one of our best players I'm sure the club would do all they could to keep him! Presuming we are still in the champ next season, I'd have a classify and let Thomas, de Souza, Webster, and keegan go. We will also lose killgallon, moussa, mills, Mason and euell to parent clubs. Then we need a good centre back to go with martis conner hird and Lockwood. We need a good midfielder and a fast winger would be nice!!

Don't entirely agree on the loanee's Gibbo, although you may be proved right. I think we may get Killa. I think we may get Mills. I think we could get Euell if we want him (Brooker released) and Blackpool stay up or even go down....all probables. I think if we wanted to, we could get Mason again, as I see him nowhere near the Spurs first team. The only one that may be difficult is Moussa.

I think Coops is full of chickens, and I think Conner is either John or Sarah. If it's Sarah Conner, it will need saying in that Arnie Terminator voice though.

As for you having a clearout, agree on that bit. I've had one this morning, and I can feel me wanting another before I set off for the KM

Exactly that, although I was answering on getting them back on loans again rather than sign. The 2yr contract suggests Leicester will want to see him for themselves next season.
