Why can no one in our squad get the ball more than 4ft off the ground, we never beat the first man! they must be instructed to go for the front stick!

of course we are and if perfected right it is the hardest type of corner to defend,we just cant seem to get it right. Were not the biggest of sides to be just pumping the ball into the box either.

We must be the worst team in the division for 'set pieces', our free kicks, corners are terrible and the number of times that we waste great opportunities in the final third is unbelieveable (I'm sure someone will have the stats to prove me wrong or right ; )).  Our final ball is woeful for the best part!

I'm not sure what Copps and Oster were doing in the first half when they messed up between them in a great great position!

Its simple Filo. Its because we don't have any strikers over 4 foot!

I have an idea.

Load up the opposite corner flag with our lads, and let George Friend take the corners!  ;-)  Galloping George's crosses were consistently overhit last night.

I know he was not fit last night and is going to be out for the season but young Mills has a great cross.

Millsy has a better cross than backpass George any day. I think we should look long term at using him as a centre half.

The title of this thread should actually be 'Set Pieces' because freekicks and corners are as bad as each other. We look totally devoid of ideas when faced with a corner or set piece - ok so there aren't many big lads to pick out in the air but christ, at least put a ball in they can at least try and win.

Just beating the first man seems a problem. Its been a problem for years.

If a cross into the box isn't an option then why not spread the attacking force throughout the opponents half, and get them to move to create spaces. Leave the odd one or two in and around the box, one at the front post. That leaves options including the ability to mount a very quick and incisive attack.

I've seen many a set piece in a threatening position be played back, and even back as far as the keeper. So the same goes there, spread the attack, make the opposition have to think.

At least we should think creatively and play to our strength.
