Just been having a chat with my mate about old players and who was our favourites when we got on to the topic of who we thought would add most to the current squad today, they dont have to be still playing but they do have to be from the John Ryan era just so we dont go back too far, we came up with a few great names, Tim Ryan, Simon Marples, Barney, remember this doesn't have to be the best player you have seen, just who you think would complement our current team the most.

Whats your thoughts?

We went for Adebayo Akinfenwa, think he would of been great with Billy

Wellens - exactly what we need in terms of bite, and could help pass teams to death

Wellens and Mills for me. Two players we still miss from the promotion side.  Would have Greeny back too.  All three departures have weakened our side in my opinion.

Oooh blimey there's shitloads you could add but i'll name a few.

Mark Albrighton - Well for obvious reasons really our defence is w**k at the moment. He gave his all every single game and definatley never one to shy away from a tackle always motivated and communicated with the lads well hence the nickname 'sarge'. So maybe a much better version of wayne thomas. I think he scored several as well so of course he was better than Thomas.

Chris Brown - Would add plenty of height up front and always a goalscoring threat from corners which would be handy for our game today since we get so many of them a game but i honestly can't recall he last time we scored from a corner this season. He banged them in as well when he was on loan in division 3.

Tristam Whitman - Purely for one of my favourite ever moments in my 9 or 10 years of supporting Rovers. When he scored that goal against Chester City in the play off semi - final at Belle Vue and ran the length of the Belle Vue pitch in celebration the fastest i'd ever seen him sprint. Cue the emphatic scenes, that goal was so important. Reminiscing aside maybe in todays team he could of added a bit of pace? He never reached his full potential i think.
