But they then would be left with a sour taste in the mouth.  I understand a few STH's have this too, so I shall raise it with the club.

There seems to be a split view that STHs on the one hand dont care about the freebies/refunds because they get the other benefits (average cheaper tickets all year, same seat, no queues etc), and on the other hand that \"Free for Everyone\" should mean exactly that.

Shaun Lockwood did tell us that there were going to be some offers for STHs coming next season, but I dont have any details of that.  A simple resolution would be to give the STHs free entry to a Carling cup game or something.

Maybe they should come out and publicly say that there will be something for the STH, there`s no doubt in my mind that the culmination of these offers are having an adverse effect on season ticket sales, i`m not saying it`s the whole reason, but it`s a contributing factor. You know my stance Rob, i`ve always been in support of trying to get more people into the ground, but you can`t stick your head in the ground and say it is n`t pissing alot of people off, it is, and no matter how many times people like you or I or any of the hard working VSC committee try to reassure people, actions speak louder than words! you know for a fact when season ticket sales don`t hit their targets we are going to get another rant from JR and all that will do is piss a few more people off!

I am happy to take the 'risk' with buying a season ticket and seeing later offers for non STH's. That having been said though, given the state of the economy, the amount of spare cash people have at the moment (and the effect that's having on season ticket sales), wanting to make buying one more attractive and wanting to keep their loyal fan base content is important and Rovers shouldn't forget that.

I look forward to hearing Shaun's ideas on the issue.

I disagree. Season tickets are a totally difference kettle of fish I'm afraid. And, if that policy was in place, how on earth would you calculate how much a season ticket holder should be refunded?

Any season ticket holders who think the club should not give out refunds in this situation are being both blinkered and selfish IMO.

There isn't a policy in place though is there. These decisions seem to be made willy nilly.
If you really stop and think about it. It is you who is being blinkered. As a matter of interest are you a season ticket holder?

This is a valid point. There's no plan or strategy it appears. These decisions seem to be at the whim of Mr Ryan. The club will never please everyone but a transparent policy on discounts/offers would help a great deal.

At last a well reasoned post.

The recent debates on here have missed the point about the overall effect of match day ticketing/offers vs Season Tickets.

We all should be concerned that income must be down and despite the club and the VSC (including me) going out of our way to sell the merits of a Season Ticket, together with the Club Scout offer, it has not been enough to arrest the decline in sales and revenue.

Now there could be any one of the following reasons

1. We have not sold the value, savings and benefits a season ticket well enough.
2. Folk won't buy until they know what division we are in.
3. The cost of an adult ST, even with instalments, is too high.
4. ST holders feel they have taken for granted, feeling it suits their pocket better by waiting around for the 'offers' to come next season.
5. Lost interest.

Whatever of the above apply, it's all negative and somehow we have go to to pull together and provide the best possible budget for SOD to work with. What sort of budget can JR provide for the summer with only 2869 ST sold.

Rob, I hope you have a positive influence on JR and can perhaps persuade Mr Lockwood/DM the negative effect the ticketing policy is having.

Let Season ticket holders use one of their vouchers from their book for a £15.00 credit in the Club Shop then.

great point i think rather than keeping it hush hush announce it, if they are thinking of offering any extra benifit it may just be the push someone needs to buy one and we certainly need them based on the figures i have seen,

by the way does anyone know the break down of our current season ticket base eg x amount of adults x amount of kids

To be honest I didn't even know what the vouchers were for!
